Let's a Dunkirk impressions thread.
I just came back home from the cinema where I watched the movie and I'm definitely impressed.
I've seen some people complain about the lack of dialogue but I don't think this movie really needed more of it. It's not like saving Private Ryan where the characters had plenty of time to rest between one action-packed moment and another. In Dunkirk the characters were constanly running towards or trying to get out/away from something. The pacing was perfect.
The actors were believable. There were no heroes in this movie, just men doing their job and trying to survive.
Even though this is a minor thing, the dogfights were a lot more realistic then they usually are in WWII films.
Oh, and the camera operators did a great job.
Overall, I think that Dunkirk is WWII kino.
