The originals are always better than the reboots.

This is an objective fact.

This is because the originals, while being an original idea would have been influenced by many previous films and books and ideas and coalesced into the films they became, with layered storytelling and hidden subtleties.
A remake primarily draws influence from the original, so from the get go it is intellectually bankrupt and ends up being a lot more shallow adaptation because it didn't have the thoughts of the original creator available.

This is why only great visionary directors can pull off great remakes. Because they have their own original ideas. Think Cronenbergs The Fly, or John Carpenters The Thing. Both remakes are a lot deeper than the originals as they include subtext which weren't in the originals. Both include disease metaphors which was timely during the height of the AIDS scare.

A poor filmmaker remakes king Kong while being oblivious to the African slave metaphor. A poor filmmaker (Tim burton) remakes planet of the apes while being oblivious to the race metaphor (apes are blacks).

A poor filmmaker remakes Dawn of the Dead (zack snyder) while being unaware of the social commentary on mindless american consumers.

All are great except for battle. Even the tv show is better than battle. The original one is probably the best one in my opinion. Conquest is also a highlight
