Depending on how Ep 8 turns out I'm going to say that prequel films are just cursed.
>>
>>85157016
The problem with prequel films is you know where everything is going to end up and instead of exploring new grounds and surprising the audience, they insist on just slapping them with nostalgia. This shouldn't be an issue with sequels, but somehow they managed it there, too.

I kinda like the "Han smuggles a Jedi" idea.

I can imagine him learning about the force for the first time, with the Jedi not resorting to cheap tricks to make him believe.
The movie in general should be less action-focused than the other new movies, and be mostly about the characters.

>>85148264

What's silly about the whole thing is that all Disney would really have to do to explain the whole parsecs thing is to say that the Kessell run is not a fixed path meant to be followed to completion as fast as possible, but rather the trip between two locations, which can be completed by following a number of different routes of varying threat levels and distances. Solo is such a badass that he manages to take the shortest path possible without getting detected and killed. That, or he comes up with a new shortcut somehow and bests everyone else. Instead they go through all these fucking hoops to sell more shit.

I think it's more like they hate the people who suddenly was so much into nerd culture although they didn't give a shit before. Also people who over react over anything. Mike and Rich was clearly huge nerds, just look at how they suddenly talk about Star Trek in a discussion of a totally unrelated film just because there were some actors who played minor roles in a Star Trek episode.

Mike likes romance subplots in movies almost always. When a movie doesn't have one, he often says he wishes there had been one. Love is a tried and true character motivator and he likes stories that utilize it.

>Ignoring all the new designs in Rogue One to bitch about returning design.

Rogue One was far more creative from a design standpoint than TFA was, and it still looked more like a Star Wars movie than TFA did at the same time. Whatever problems Rogue One had, design and visual execution were not among them.

That's not what happened. The studio greenlit a serious drama about young han. The directors wanted to make a comedy. They were told no, make the script we gave you, make a drama. So what they did was shoot the serious takes from the script, then after that they would shoot some "improv" takes where they encouraged the actors to be funny. Then they used all the "improv" takes to make the film instead of the serious ones. The studio only got wind of it because the kid playing Han was mad they were making a comedy because he wanted to be in a serious movie so he literally ran to Kathleen Kennedy and ratted them out. She demanded to see the cut they had (no one had bothered till now) they showed it to her and it was a slapstick comedy with fart jokes. She fired both of them and now they are trying to recut it.

It's either hit or meh when it comes to the Marvel movies with them. They liked TFA at first but after the initial hype their cynicism kicked in and they now hate it for all the reason everyone else hates it. Their Rogue One review and other multiple videos afterwards pretty much solidified what they think of the new movies. They hate that Disney has gone even further than Lucas did with Star Wars when it comes to making it a capitalists wet dream by pumping out as much media as fucking possible. Now with the new theme park being built, Disney really wants to push that Star Wars is "their's" now.

More like making fun about the details because they make no fucking sense at all. Like with Darth Vader's suit

>Why does Darth Vader's completely unique suit have a serial number?
>Where are all these budget cuts that supposdely make his suit shitty coming from
>Why don't they improve the suit once they actully have the money for it
>Why does it have a Power off button?

Seriously, who wrote this shit? It sounds like something a 12 year old would write, with their priorities being to cram as many unoriginal and uninteresting "details" (read: serial numbers and shit) and then afterwards just quickly coming up with the first best excuse why Vader is evil, in that case because his suit was annoying him to death

same thing. If Ramsay is doing something that even the burger flipper knows is wrong, he's gotten lazy or drunk.

Someone being famous for doing a thing well doesn't mean they always will, and burger flippers are allowed to have preferences the same as everyone else. They might say "Ramsay, this plating with the wasabi sauce drawing on the plate? That's a waste of ingredients. Put it on the food or don't bother." because that is the experience they prefer. You, high connoisseur that you are, are also allowed to disagree with the burger flipper's criticisms, but it isn't invalid and automatically false.

But this is a strained analogy. the point is, you, who don't have a patreon for thousands of dollars nor a youtube with half a million subscribers, are not allowed to tell RLM how to make youtube videos based on your own logic anyway.

Dude he clearly has a hard time maintaining a sense of reason throughout those reviews that goes beyond him trying to be funny. He very clearly hates the prequels with passion, so only someone who really loved the original trilogy would get so upset over the prequels right? Now it's true he started out with Star Trek reviews and is a bigger Star Trek guy but to be honest he put a lot more effort into the Phantom Menace review than any of the TNG movies. It's also true that the Phantom Menace is probably a bigger failure than those two warranting the expended effort however, to even want to expend that effort you would have to have been a pretty big fan of Star Wars prior to the prequels. Look the point is while the phantom menace sucked it wasnt the worst film ever made and only someone who holds Star Wars in high regard would spend their time explaining why they hate the prequels and by extension George Lucas so much now. Rich and Jay while disliking the prequels dont really care all that much because they arent big Star Wars fans. Mike is and his passion makes him a fanboy to me. When people talk about Hitler its from a place of fascination more than anything. Mike spoke from detest, spite, and remorse not curiosity or understanding. To really care that much about a work of fiction means it probably meant alot to you enough so that it could arguably make you more than just an average fan and in fact make you a fan so big as to call you a fanboy. I don't believe the carbonite part or having a Jedi turn up in general (remember that Han doesn't believe in that crap at the beginning of the OT, and he had definitely never met Vader). But the Kessel run being the pivotal challenge to overcome for Han is obviously true, there really is no alternative to it.
