Memento, as basically every film ever directed by Christopher Nolan, is basically an outrageous and mean spirited attempt at murdering cinema as an art form. The classic example of a film that panders to this memetic MTV generation teens who have never touched real cinema getting triggered and mistakenly considering it a film instead of a flick.

In reality is merely a futile exercise in style filled with 101 screenwriting techniques and thriller/film noir cliches making it no more authentic than your average Michael Bay flick.

But still, liking Transformers 4 is not as bad as liking Memento. Oh boy, a Saving Private Ryan rehash with a thousand more Private Ryans depicted in no way that is historically accurate based on what happened at Dunkirk.

The Nazis encircled the remaining British Expeditionary Forces at Dunkirk and held their fire out of sympathy for a group of cornered soldiers, mostly because many Nazis were also WW1 veterans and knew the feeling themselves at some point.

Instead somehow this movie is all about some great battle that never occured and the British were allowed to retreat peacefully once pushed back to the shores in the early portions of the war. It was also a gesture meant to approach peace with Britain in the hopes that Nazi Germany could focus fully on Russia before anyone else got involved, like America, but it never took.

Might as well be filed under the fantasy genre.

Armond White is a genius. The man has made a career out of a character, a man who hates everything you love and loves everything you hate. Ever seen a movie multiple times in the theater? Armond White went to piss and almost left. Ever seen something so bad you almost walked out? Armond White likely owns it on Blu Ray.
His reviews are absurd and always unhelpful to the typical movie-goer. Want to know if you should see King Arthur? Read Armond White's review and see if you even know who are you at the end of it. His ability to tangent into things that are not even closely related is a gift. Every single film he views is his last in his eyes and he types a story of the world, his view of the world from his window and car ride to the theater as he clearly chooses to see nothing else.
I hope he makes good money from his spouting. It's rare to see such a tastefully subtle comedian work this long and be this committed to a character, so much so that it ends up enveloping him.
