First of all, Mosfilm did the restoration, not Criterion. And no, that's actually how it's supposed to look.

Mosfilm may have done the transfer, but Criterion still did their own tweaking.

On Mosfilm's own youtube channel is what appears to the same transfer, but with different color alteration. Notice how the sepia scenes aren't as intensely yellow as the Criterion. I also think the France Bluray uses the same transfer.
