He's also done a great job promoting the show, at least better than RTD, but he also tried to do WAY to much by himself. As I said in a previous post, like the first series our show is going to be coronation St with daleks.

We won't ignore the past, but it's going to be a more ensemble cast, more gritty, deal with real life issues, that sort of thing.

Another reason Doctor Who isn't as popular as it used to be is, according to the focus group, that there are too many aliens to keep track of these days and popular aliens like the Daleks and the Slitheen don't get enough screen time. With our idea of making each series one long serial adventure we will only need one enemy each series and people will feel less confused.

Yes, there have been plenty of times the master has come back from death before, but as I don't intend to bring the character back I think she can be safely put aside until I am no longer show runner. I won't guarantee that I won't change my mind at some point in the future, but the Master's end, when she was on her way to redemption is just so poetic and sad I really don't want it to loose it's impact.

Once you start doing the first read troughs of the scene there really is no way you can keep the secret from the press. We had to reveal that weekend and because of Wimbledon there was not going to be time in the schedules to do a big show like last time. There was a similar situation when Pearl was about to start on the show, solved in a similar way.

It would be amazing if we didn't even have to do a reveal clip at all or even let people know the Doctor was going to regenerate, hopefully I will get to do that someday.
