The truth is that it's ok. The first 4 seasons are good, but the show goes down in quality after that point, outside of a few moments. Not best show ever, but not godawful. It's inbetween.

I would recommend watching it for yourself but I like it. It's high budget fantasy drama and works for what it is. That being said it sold out from being faithful to the books to now just shock of the week over the top blockbuster entertainment. So it's not as good as it was, but it's still better than a lot of shows.
