I recently picked up a copy of The Long Good Friday on DVD. It had two deep scratches about a quarter inch long on the disc, and had serious trouble playing in the middle, which made it unwatchable. Then I got the VHS release from 1993 and it plays perfectly.

I like the durability of VHS, plus the possibility of having different cuts and whatnot. The low definition and crappy colour for me are a big turn-off though.
