Its problem was that it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a hard nihilistic dystopian movie or a cheesy swashbuckling adventure movie and the two approaches just didn't gel. I still love it, though.

This was the go-to movie for substitute teachers when I was in high school. Watched it at least once a year.
