Again it's not Marvel's way of making a small hero, like say Logan, it's Marvel's way of making a literal comedy. And in comedy, you keep stakes low.

Spider-Twink's actions led to the Vulture's suit breaking down. The Vulture not realising it and trying to fly away with it doesn't mean he undid himself all on his own.

The point is that Spidey's not really in full control yet. He's a literal kid, this was the one time him interfering with anything above street thug level that it actually went somewhat right, and not in the way he'd originally planned.
>>
>>84920602
>And in the end he wins, and makes everything allright.

I'm actually brazilian, it's a bit of a meme in my state as well, but I assumed the spanish name would be more recognizable to burger friends.

Now, here's the question: As someone who usually enjoys MCU flicks as background noise, will I like Homecoming?
>>
>>84918192
I don't know what you mean by "human" and "relatable." The only good character was Vulture. May got zero screentime and next to 0 emotional involvement, the other students were just fodder for constant jokes, and the biggest issue of all was that Spider-Man barely developed as a character in his own movie.

Peter starts out as a young kid confident in his abilities and moral compass who is eager to take up more responsibility. Throughout the movie he fucks up multiple times, causing millions in property damage and endangering many lives, including those of his friends. By the end of the movie, it's played off that Tony was wrong the whole time and that the kid's good nature and instincts were correct the whole time. The only thing that changes is that he decides to stay "close to the ground" (even though he only makes that decision when faced with separation from his friends and family).

Compared with Raimi's Spider-Man, Homecoming fails as a character study. In Spider-Man 1 Peter goes from an ignorant kid abusing his ability for personal gain to a revenge-driven vigilante to a true hero, conflicted between his feelings for his family and friends and his "great responsibility." In Homecoming, Peter starts as an eager kid and ends as an eager kid, despite going through something which one would think would make him grow up a little.

On top of this, there was no good confrontation between Spidey and Vulture. The lack of spider-sense made all the setpieces weak, and the climax was unimpressive. The movie was, however, very funny and had an excellent villain.
>>
>>84920868
And it's still a power fantasy about some kid taking down some big bad guys.
Again, the fact that he's not flawless and that he's not stopping a world ending threat doesn't mean it's not a power fantasy.
Man of Steel is a power fantasy and has a superhero that pretty much doesn't do anything until shit hits the fan.

He never really loses faith. Nearly immediately after having the super suit taken away he goes back to action in the hoodie suit doing the exact same thing. Then, because he succeeds, Tony takes back everything he criticized Peter for earlier (despite Peter nearly causing the next 9/11 to foil the robbery). Then, he only turns down "The big leagues" because Tony wanted to make it full time, removing him completely from his life. He would have made the same decision to not join at the start of the movie if he knew it meant leaving his life, all he wanted was more "field trips" and individual missions like the one to Germany in Civil War. He was more than happy to patrol NY like a beat cop if it meant occasionally helping save the world.

>>
>>84923966
"I'm nothing without that suit!"

That's not something he'd say if he had faith in himself.

When he runs after the Vulture, he tells Ned to call Happy. He doesn't originally plan to stop the Vulture, just delay him. It's when he's finding his own strength and lifting up the rubble, when he chants "Spider-Man," that he regains faith in himself.

The point is that it's relatable in a different way, almost every other Superhero movie shows the MC pulling off their bread and butter heroics flawlessly; while Homecoming shows that even the supposedly "simple stuff" like interogation or even knowing if something is a crime or not is hard for a greenhorn. We all know the hardships of trying to master something new so this movie taps into that in a pretty novel way.

I thought the same until I saw the movie, Holland seemed like he would be "DUDE LIKE BEING SPIDER-MAN IS SO COOL I LIKE LOVE BEING SPIDER-MAN IT'S RAD." from the bit we got in Civil War.

Thankfully this is actually not really how he is in the movie. He actually plays Spider-Man way more as a total loser trying to come off as cool, which I found pretty charming.
>>
>>84924938

the CG-eyes are cool, gives him more character and is a nice nod to the cartoons
>>
In one of the Spider-Man Homecoming sequels, Ned will become the Human Fly. He will use his knowledge of computers and other technology to perform various stunts to entertain people due to his due to his desire to be a superhero like Spider-Man. This is hinted at in Homecoming by the t-shirt Ned wears with a fly on it.

Ned will meet the Tinkerer as the Human Fly. The Tinkerer will know Ned is friends with Spider-Man somehow and force him into becoming Mysterio, possibly using magic involving an item that has to do with Dr. Strange or something from outerspace. If he turns into Mysterio due to magic, then Dr. Strange will likely be the hero that helps Spider-Man in the movie. The fact that Ned is Mysterio will not be known initially to Spider-Man due to the mask Mysterio wears.

The Tinkerer will operate a human sized drone suit with attached arms that makes it have eight limbs. So it will be the Octopus drone. He might attach them to one of Tony's drone suits that he salvages somewhere. The drone will have the ability to fly somehow, possibly by having spinning tips to it's limbs that can also be used as weapons or just fly like how Iron Man flies. These arms will be similar to what the Scorpion has for his stinger.

The Scorpion will have claw-like things somewhere on his arms while still being able to use his hands. He will also at some point in the movie gain wings like the Vulture had. These things will be in addition to his stinger. Insects similar to this actually exist in nature.

This is actually one of the reasons why having Spider-Man's suit be Stark tech is kind of brilliant.

Him making master cosplay-tier suits was already kind of feeling like a stretch, but having eyes that can emote would just be next level; but by having that be something made by Tony Stark it's a little more credible. It also kind of handwaves away why he can stick to walls with gloves on, which is also why his homemade outfit has fingerless gloves.
>>
>>84925011
Hmm okay, maybe I will pirate it sometime.

I just really hope Stark kinda fucks off for the next movie or so. I want Peter to try to find his way on his own and not just be a toy for TS to have in his back pocket whenever he needs to jerk himself off

you willst

nice twists, great villain, and an actually emotive spiderman

god she is so cute

I think that's the idea behind the ending. Tony fucks off up-state, leaving Spidey alone in NYC. He also learns to not rely on the suit Tony got him as much, and that being part of Tony's gang might not be a good idea just yet.

the next spider man is after infinity war

this film represents the first shift from the old guard(iron man, Cap) to the new avengers(Strange, Spiderman)

I think Tony Stark may die in Infinity War

As somebody that worships the Raimi trilogy and got buttblasted by TASM, will I enjoy this film?
>>
>>84925627
It's firmly Marvel but better than usual, though that doesn't necessarily say much. Way better than the mess that was Amazing Spider Man though.
>>
>>84925610

Probably because RDJ said he was done being Iron Man, right?

>>84925627

I'm the same way and I liked it, though not as much as the Raimy Trilogy

They're great but after eating a shitload as a kid I got really burnt out on them

No desire to eat churros anymore.

homecoming is a competent movie, its good. Its just really bland, no style. Pascal made sure of that. It's scary non creatives like her and fiege have final say on things.

Homecoming deliberately sets out to be almost as different as possible. It's more Spider-Boy than anything.

You won't be seeing Spider-Man swinging through Downtown Manhattan even once in this movie.

>Spider-Boy
You mean Spider-Twink.
