How will abolishing Net Neutrality affect the way we watch shows online?
>>
>>84901385
idk

but Trump is all for getting rid of it so that will only make things better
>>
Net neutrality is just the jews trying to save shekels and brainwashing the good goys to back them up.

>oi vey, goy, the government will slow down your vidya and porno, goy. you don't want that do you?

The reality is net neutrality is like not taxing trucks on the highway. The trucks carry goods for jews, and the goys pay for the roads. Without net neutrality, companies can set up toll booths for the roads and charge the jews their dues.

57.5% of ALL INTERNET TRAFFIC is jewflix, jewtube, and kikebook. Remember that when you're defending the jew and preaching "net newtralitee" like a good goy.

>How will abolishing Net Neutrality affect the way we watch shows online?

They have already implemented data caps which people are going to saturate when in a few years 4k becomes the standard on everything.

Once it becomes legal, they will just say "use our preferred streaming services that dont count towards your cap". So you eat your cap using Netflix, you dont when using Hulu.

They are going to get that extra nickel and dime out of you, by either paying for a higher data cap or by paying for the services they want you to.

If it works successfully with video streaming, they can push it even harder into other sections of the internet.
Give an inch, take a fucking mile

They don't, it's a left-wing meme insult that betrays utter loathing and disrespect for half of the country. Basically, the average liberal mind sees poor Republican voters voting against larger government and thinks, "But larger government means more welfare for these people! Why would they ever vote against that? They must be idiots!" Never once considering that people might vote based off of principle or consistent political opinion, or any other reason besides "whatever gives me the most free shit". This is a common consequence of the post-conviction world; people don't even understand the concept of conviction itself, only immediate self-interest.

Imagine the cable TV model applied to every aspect of the internet. The cheap package only gets you access to the top 100 most visited websites and you can only stream in 720p unless using a service that pays the ISP more. Arbitrary decisions about what content to deliver and what to block. Using websites outside their "standard selection" costs more on a per view basis or a bandwidth basis.

Big internet companies can pay for preferential bandwidth so companies/sites that don't pay get throttled to make bandwidth room for paying companies when they are in high demand. ISPs will make deals with large companies to provide preferential access to their services over their competitors.

And to cap it all off, 51% of Americans live in an area with only one ISP. 38% in an area with only 2 ISPs. If you get stuck with a shitty ISP, there's nothing you can do about it.

Apple has been receiving massive state and federal tax cuts for the last decade to supposedly bring in more jobs. They currently have over 250 billion in cash on hand, a record that's been growing since the end of the recession. They're not spending that shit to hire workers. If you give companies tax breaks they just increase corporate bonuses and pay higher at the top. If you're going to give tax breaks at least create incentives that reward companies for creating jobs instead of handing them the cash and then hoping for the best
>>

Any decent tax rate would cause them to leave regardless. If they're in it to make profit, why not live in or work through a tax haven? Fuck, people already did that with the Panama Papers.

If we change policy out of fear of billionaires leaving, then we're giving them the power to hold significant sway over our country.
>>

Slapping tariffs on foreign goods and heavily discouraging manufacturing outside of the states to protect "muh jerbs" as Trump promised will only drive up the price of goods (like a $400 iPhone), lowering the quality of life the most for the poor who can no longer afford these goods. The jobs are leaving anyways because the world is moving on (for example, goodbye coal).

Regional monopolies aren't caused by net neutrality. You think once net neutrality is removed existing ISPs will suddenly move into other regions and end the monopoly?

The regional monopoly is caused by the fact that it's virtually impossible to create a competitive company. Lets say you want to break up a regional monopoly with your own ISP company. First you need to lay your own cables to transmit internet. This costs hundreds of millions of dollars and several years. Then you run into the fact that existing ISPs have deals with regional municipalities to prevent new cable laying to protect their monopoly. It's millions of dollars and years of construction and litigation before you can serve your first customer.

So long as that is the case, there will never be competition among ISPs. They are content to carve out regional monopolies and keep out of each other's space, satisfied that there will never be an upstart company to disrupt them. Net neutrality isn't holding the monopoly together, the economic realities of building an ISP company is.

>isps made everything neutral on their own
People were talking about net neutrality and protecting the internet in the early 90s. In the early 2000s set up non discrimination principals for the internet.

The first real challenge against net neutrality was when Comcast was caught throttling torrents. They lost the resulting court case. There were other cases along the way.

Net neutrality didn't become a huge deal until about 2014, when suddenly every Chad and Stacey was streaming HD video on Netflix and HBO. ISPs wanted to set up a system where streaming services paid more for preferential bandwidth. The resulting court case lead to the Obama era net neutrality regulations.

Because the issues are completely intertwined. If you want people to give a huge shit about the regional monopolies, their local providers have to start providing a service that is drastically different from other regions at retarded prices.

Network neutrality creates an environment where who really gives a fuck if its all the same
>>
HOLY SHIT FAGGOTS

IT'S GOVERNMENT CREATED LOCAL MONOPOLIES THAT ARE THE MAIN PROBLEM

>>84903297
Could you stop twisting and confusing the issues?

AOL died because it was reliant upon piggybacking over phonelines via dialup and telecommunications companies started providing their own internet services, murdering AOL.

Most, if not all advancement in IT was about trying to make everything cheaper for the telecommunications companies. Competition simply isn't a market force in telecommunications.

The article is irrelevant and trying to act like there is zero relationship between regional monopolies and network neutrality betrays staggering ignorance of both issues.

As the entire reason the regional monopolies were established was to prevent situations where multiple companies were fighting over providing identical services, with no way to really edge out one another, and eventually collapsing.

Someone remotely intelligent recognized telecommunications as, potentially, being a situation where, if left unregulated, a massive monopoly could form. So to combat that small monopolies were allowed.

There are billionaires that have made their fortune through oil and coal. If they have the ability, they would absolutely crush any idea of alternative energy as they have been doing. Giving these people more power and more money would result in a long-term negative.

>it's like you REALLY hate economic production.
This isn't a new idea you spastic. The government has been giving grants to companies of value for fucking generations. Last year they gave money to NASA, who in turn dispersed some of it out to four companies each with their own specific areas of enterprise.

Corporations should work for the mutual benefit of everyone. Otherwise they have no right to exist.
>>

Wow, that's amazing, you didn't understand a single point yet responded anyway.

The local, regional monopolies being bought up by various ISPs is a recent development in the telecommunications industry. My first broadband ISP was jones, that was bought by @home, then @home was bought by comcast.

The issue that regional monopolies were created to avoid was multiple companies fighting over laying/hanging line for the sake of providing identical services.

The pipeline wasn't already finished, it needed (and still needs) the final stages of construction. You're also trying really hard to avoid the fact that Trump publicly said the pipeline would be build with US steel, then approved the construction without using American steel.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2017/02/24/remarks-president-trump-conservative-political-action-conference
From the mouth of Trump:
>We have authorized the construction, one day, of the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines. And issued a new rule. This took place while I was getting ready to sign. I said, who makes the pipes for the pipeline? Well, sir, it comes from all over the world, isn't that wonderful? I said, nope, it comes from the United States or we're not building one. American steel. If they want a pipeline in the United States, they're going to use pipe that's made in the United States, do we agree?

Yeah, I wish we still had Obama so he could pad his employment numbers with people working multiple part time jobs because their hours got cut due to Obamacare.

This is actually a bigger deal than most people give credit. Traditional news outlets are a fucking blight on the west and need to be eradicated. Once people stop watching television for their opinions then maybe there will be enough of an informed demographic for actual beneficial change to take place, regardless of which side of the spectrum it originates from.
>>
>>84904362
>Still can't point to anything Trump has done to improve the economy
Thank god Obama left things going so well and we can just coast on that for a while.

Politics rots people's brains I swear. This is a simple issue but everyone sees things as package deals now

>oh no I can't support net neutrality the libcucks like that! Then I'll have to accept their gender politics

No, no you don't. It's one issue. If you wanna keep using this site like you do now its obvious you should support net neutrality. Its as simple as that.
>>
So basically all arguments by libtards are
>I AM FUCKING POOR
>PLEASE DON'T TAKE MUH INTERNETS
>>
>>84904825

conservashits vote against their interests, even when they know certain policies would benefit them, just to spite liberals. thats the problem with the modern repukelishit party. their voters are inbred retards blinded by prejudices

Liberals always project what they are guilty of onto others
>>
>>84904920
they will almost always do what is financially viable. That you can count on. Government is another beast. Especially with liberals in control. Any and everything is fair game to be sacraficed at the alter to buy absolute power. I'd bet on the free market. Not every time, but most of the time.
>>
>>84904825
This is like saying you shouldn't think about where your money is going when you buy something. The broad repercussions of your actions should always be taken into account.

I personally am pretty indifferent on this particular issue, because both sides are bullshit, but the NN proponents' strategy of stirring a bunch of retards on social media sites into a frenzy and shitting up my boards really pisses me off to no end.
>>
>>84901385
Tremendously. Take Spectrum for example. Spectrum owns a streaming service that is in competition with other streaming services, like Netflix. If net neutrality is abolished, Spectrum can severely slow down or completely eliminate your access to Netflix if they want.

The only people who gain from this are ISPs, everyone else suffers

yeah because the internet was so bad in 2010. comcast added a data cap while this net neutrality shit was around

this has nothing to do with the consumer

it all has to do with Google and other rich companies not wanting to pay a premium for internet traffic. They use HUGE amounts of data and want to be able to push other corporations around

>Goldberg was also active on Twitter, Reddit, Discus.com and others under the username MoonMetropolis,[14] a "free speech absolutist" who was involved with the Gamergate controversy. He would frequently use this persona to criticize the works of his other personas such as Tanya Cohen, arguing against points that he himself had made.

>>
>>84905032
i'm not in love with big business but CEO's are subject to more accountability than elected government officials. And you do vote with your dollars, every day.

It may not be something that you've thought about, but consider that if politicians were truly good at what they do then they wouldn't be in politics, they'd be in business. Politicians are by nature mediocre performers and they get into these jobs for the security and influence of the positions they hold.

no, most white women do not actually like niggers. that's a fantasy you concocted because you're a retarded subhuman who couldn't have an honest argument if your life depended on it. the issue is the importation of millions of them that breed at incredible numbers and force out the native populace. they tend to be very tribal and only vote for interests that benefit them instead of what benefits the state. this is the core issue. go back to spamming nigger dicks though, cuckodl
