Spielberg should be on there.
He gets a load of shit these days for either his sentimentality or being too mainstream in general. But there is no denying the technical achievements to many of his best works. He redefined a lot of what we expect to see from spectacle blockbusters. And if you're sad enough to pretend that Jaws isn't a classic then you are the very definition of a try hard turbo pleb that must return to /r/movies.
