Why is Raimi's Spider-Man better than Webb's Amazing

Raimi was one of those Jew baby boomers that always drone on about how "Brooklyn used to be" and read the original comics as a kid, and made a pretty accurate set of films. While Spider-Man 3 sucks, you can see the parts of the film where he really cared (mostly the Sandman stuff, with his original costume and desperate Coen Bros-esque plotline)

Raimi had restraint, and his movies were made before the capeshit formula got rolling. He knew how far to push the camp and ridiculous, as well as when to reign it in.
I doubt Webb is exactly a good boy who dindu nuffin', but I'd be staggered if Sony weren't meddling with the films every step of the way trying to ape Marvel.

Because TASM was primarily made so Sony could retain the rights to the character. The TASM movies have no heart at all. I didn't give a shit when Uncle Ben died in TASM, but his death scene in the 2002 movie still gets me emotional because it's well acted. Sally Field is only in them because one of the producers was a close friend who was dying and one of her last wishes was for her to play the part.

The most infuriating thing about this is that the TASM defenders will unironically pull the nostalgia argument when you try to tell them the Raimi movies are better. It's astounding how stupid these people can be.

Do any other Spider-Man films capture the core of Spider-Man's character like the scene in Spider-Man 2 when he showed his face to all the people on the train?

Peter Parker falls in love with Gwen Stacy.

Unable to confess, the wall crawler is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when the spider-based superhero recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of the MARVEL MULTIVERSE.

Because the important character in a Spider-Man movie isn't Spider-Man, it's Peter Parker, and he is undeniably better in the Raimi films.

A relateable likable loser nerd is far better than an unlikable hipster douchebag.

Plus, Raimi seemed to have a genuine love for New York City and for the Spider-Man comics, and you can really tell with the first two movies that he was trying to make the best comic book movie and best cinematic version of Spider-Man he could.

But where does Homecoming Spider-Man fit into all this?

I unironically prefer TASM. The Raimi movies are too campy, and TASM FEELS more like Spider-Man, from the quips to gwen to the perfect and accurate portrayal of the lizard (the only Spider-Man villain done accurately to this day). Theres a couple of missteps, the train scene with his first bit of powers is awful for example, but overall it's fantastic. The sequel is an awful mess though, only scenes with Gwen are done well.
