How is that a bad thing? The show wasn't trying to mess with your head or rely on twists. It was telling a fairly straightforward story with unconventional methods. Which is what the Nolans have always done; despite their reputation for "mindfucks" their movies are all pretty simple plotwise. For some reason, people can't look past the unconventional storytelling and assume that twists and other gimmicks aren't happening. The people who were able to pick up on that were just able to apply pretty standard story analysis to think about the show in other terms than twists, and there's nothing wrong with that.

It's not the show's fault that you were expecting something it was never trying to be. It's actually a good thing that the show had a set plan and stuck to the story it was trying to tell. If you don't want that, go back to watching Lost.

Bernard wasn't the public face of development, and most public mentions of him probably would have been covered up by Delos after the PR disaster that was Dolores's first killing spree.

Bernard was basically the Ub Iwerks of the park, and Ford was the Walt Disney. Even today (and without an active effort of Disney to surpress knowledge of his existence), most people wouldn't know who Ub Iweks is, and he created Mickey fucking Mouse.
