Only really true for the new films. Alien features a bunch of space tow truck drivers, not trained xenobiologists. Aliens features a bunch of marines walking into a nest of hitherto unknown bio-weapons. Aliens 3 is random prisoners, and Aliens 4 is just a perfect storm of bad shit.

It's not until we reach Prometheus and Covenant that we start seeing trained experts doing the exact opposite of what trained experts would do. "Hmm, that vagina snake is very clearly engaging in a threat display. Better try to stick my finger down the vulva."

There's nothing to say they aren't in Alien though, the race that created them has been dead at least 2,000 years, who knows how much longer ago they created it, or tested it somewhere the Predators could have found one queen, or eggo, or cell.

I must have missed these? The only thing I recall them mentioning the Predators teaching us is how to build pyramids for them, and I don't remember any Engineers in AvP, and even if they were, are you sure you aren't remembering their space suits which appeared in the original Alien?

You should really watch Aliens: Covenant before trying to argue about the Aliens franchise canon.

It was just the Weyland Corp at the time, and there's no indication they had any idea what they'd find except some kind of ancient structure with a power source. If they really expected to find Predators, the CEO certainly wouldn't have shown up, not without better security and smarter experts at least instead of the "best in their field" who don't know shit about what they're seeing.
