I'm extremely hype for this, but I haven't played one of the games.

Is there anything I should know beforehand going in, or will it not matter because this is a western vidya adaptation and it's "impossible" for those to be good?

Castlevania's story goes all over the place and usually isn't that intricate. I doubt you need to know anything other than that in the Castlevania universe, Dracula isn't just an evil vampire he's basically evil incarnate.

They should have waited. VA was a little stilted for some characters "salt kills demons, spread the word" as an example, some animations were choppy, and some plot stuff was kinda contrived like why exactly did all those dudes decided to just murder that "priest" just because of what Trevor said? Otherwise it was alright I definitely want to see more and watching Dracula have some personality is nice.
