After David Lynch got me hooked on coffee, sealing my teeth's fate as yellow garbage, I decided to try tooth whitening. The pain was and is far worse than anything I'd imagined. Women have compared it to child birth. From the moment the machine really gets going, I experienced random, intense electric shocks in individual teeth. Still am.

The machine seemed to be some kind of Goa'uld torture device, just blue light instead of gold. I survived their test until the third pass, at which point I told the hygienist we had a blue rose situation and I thought I might have left a cherry pie in the oven. Luckily she understood, but advised me not to eat it for 24 hours since it could stain my teeth.

Thanks to Lynch not only am I addicted to caffeine, I'm digging out some oxy left over from my last surgery. Whenever I try looking at the teeth in the mirror, it's like it's not me. I can only check for a second because the shocks completely take over if I keep staring. I haven't slept because the garmonbozia generated by this experience could have me waking up in the lodge.

Imagine being Special Agent Dale Cooper in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Audrey Horne, you fuckin' beautiful, intelligent, desirable, and everything a man wants in his life, I couldn't possibly have sex with you, both the professional and the personal me." when all he really wants to do is bang the shit out of her. Like seriously imagine having to be Cooper and not only stand in that room while Audrey Horne flaunts her perfect body in front of you, the harsh lighting hardly hindering her youthful and creamy skin, and just stand there, minute after minute, second after second, while she perfected that smile. Not only having to tolerate her flawless fucking visage but her sweet attitude as everyone in the town tells her she's STILL GOT IT and DAMN, AUDREY HORNE LOOKS LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and watch her feminine fucking angel face contort into types of sexy looks you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been fucking nothing but a healthy diet of Caroline Earle and Annie Blackburn and later alleged sex workers for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the FBI in Philadelphia. You've never even seen anything this fucking beautiful before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her buxom breasts as she projects them outwards to writhe them suggestively at you, confidently assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to be there and revel in her "Virginal (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she worked so hard for with personal trainers in the previous months. And then the FBI director calls for another week at Twin Peaks, and you know you could kill every single person in this town before the Sheriff department could put you down, but you stand there and endure, because you're fucking Coop. You're not going to lose your future FBI director career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.

>In 2007, artist Matt Haley and Twin Peaks producer Bob Engels began work on a graphic novel continuation of the series, to be included in the "Complete Mystery" DVD box set. Haley stated: "Bob and I had a number of discussions about what the story would be, I was keen to use whatever notes they had for the proposed third season. I really wanted this to be a literal 'third season' of the show. Bob told me they really wanted to get away from the high school setting, so after the resolution of the Cooper-BOB-possession plot point, they would have cut to something like 'Ten Years Later', and then shown us a Twin Peaks where Cooper had quit the FBI and had become the town pharmacist, Sheriff Truman had become a recluse, etc. He also mentioned they were going to have Sheryl Lee come back, this time as a redhead, and probably have her character killed by BOB again. There were also some vague ideas about BOB and Mike being from a planet made of creamed corn, something about Truman driving Mike backwards through the portal into the Black Lodge (which I think would have been a really nice cinematic scene)." Lynch vetoed the project, stating that he respected the effort but did not want to continue the story of Twin Peaks in any way.

Holy kek Engels was a fucking hack lmao. No wonder Mark Frost wanted him dead.

I watched it when The Entire Mystery came out, so I'm still a bandwagoner just less so than I could be.

That said, I go all in and take it more serious than the majority of people even if I'm late to the party. I've never been one to hop on a trend just so I can feel like I'm part of some current social wave of interest, it's always a very private thing and I usually take quite some time before I discuss it with people because I feel a need to be adequately knowledgeable about it.

But time and time again I find that nobody ever does this, everyone just has a surface level interest of things.

You people make fun of this as if it isn't something Lynch could make fucking incredible. Just remember the Eraserhead intro and think what he could do with a cream corn surrealist space setting. Everything else in that text is a block of shit, but I think this part is actually an interesting idea.

The thing about the black lodge is that it's psychological, it doesn't and shouldn't make sense. A planet made of creamed corn (pain and suffering) is a cool idea.

Nope, I would never say this to anybody's face, nor do I really judge people for not having the same level of interest I do in things, it's more of a character flaw of mine where I feel some innate need to justify my tastes.

Comes from a fear of being unsure about myself and my tastes in arts and how they have evolved. You start questioning just how influenced you've been by certain subcultures so you wanna evaluate what you like and why you like it.

Isn't transcendental meditation proven to be like a cult hoax?

Doesn't anybody find it odd that they want you to send them a bunch of money over something that is supposedly rooted in self improvement and reaching inner peace? Why do they need your money for that? You don't have to pay money to go to church, why is TM doing all this weird fuckery.

There's also the matter of the leader genuinely believing that he could levitate and read minds...

Imagine being Bobby in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Dad, you fuckin' smart, all warm with your loving speech and honorably inspiring parental advice. I would totally make a proud father of you, both my character and the real me." when all he really wants to do is fuck Shelly in front of Leo. Like seriously imagine having to be Bobby and not only sit in that chair while Major Briggs recites his esoteric dream to you, his poignant strength barely concealing his tears and fatherly love, and just sit there, minute after minute, second after second, while he perfected that speech. Not only having to tolerate his deep fatherly love but his inspiring attitude as everyone in town tells him he's STILL GOT IT and DAMN, MAJOR BRIGGS FEELS LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and listen to his powerful fucking speech contort into types of feelings you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been fucking nothing but a healthy diet of Laura Palmer and Shelly Johnson and later alleged Audrey Horne for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies in Twin Peaks. You've never even seen anything this fucking kind-hearted before, and now you swear you can taste the tears that's breaking out of his weary eyes as he opens them to connect affectionately with you, proudly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to sit there and revel in his "classified (for that is what he calls himself)" information, the information he worked so hard for with the military in the previous months. And then Major Briggs tells you he loves you, and you know you could kill every single person in this diner before the sheriff department could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're fucking Bobby. You're not going to lose your future football career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.

Well given the fact that there is zero research done on whether or not it has a real effect on you, I'd say there's cause to be concerned at least. It's a little weird how everyone just accepts it as this great thing, I mean there isn't even a criticism page on wikipedia for it.

This is a movement that claims you can levitate if you pay enough money and become a high enough rank within it. That's fucking weird.

I am completely sold on meditation as a concept, even if it is very hard to prove with data whether or not it has an effect. But TM sounds sketchy.

It represents pain and sorrow because it was Laura's favourite meal. Read the secret diary.

"I can confirm that [Arroyo Seco's 'Devil's Gate'] does [resemble the face of a devil]. But the name goes back farther than the Army Corps of Engineers. The Tongva Indians, who lived in the area for centuries, called this spot the Hell Gate because they believed it was literally a portal to the underworld.

"His colleague told me that Parsons used this area for his personal exploration of what he called "the explosive sciences, of both the literal and metaphorical varieties"—because he believed they would 'open up the gate.'"

Ugh. Call me LYNCHED or FROSTED but I think the story really lost me the second we saw the Laura Palmer dragonball, and this just seems like another misstep.
>>
>>84693367
Tell me about Lynch! Why does he wear the hat?
>>
>>84693588
He's a benihana chef.

>>84693404
Crowley did some interesting things, but he still was mostly a guy who liked playing dress-up. I don't know Parsons that much apart from Crowley and Hubbard biographies, but with what he was trying to do and how Hubbard played him he seems on the spectrum desu.

The way I see it is that I have a lot of chances to be pleasantly surprised by the end of the series. It's maddening, because I think some bits are brilliant, but I might just not be part of the target audience this time around.

It doesn't have to be near anything, it has to be a source of fissile material or something to make explosion rips into the other world.

The coordinates are what matter. Probably one of the 7 areas where you can rip into not just the lodge but into "non ex is tant" area with that shitter.

I liked it. It is pretty style over substance but the time and space inconsistencies evoke a dream which is the reason I watched it and is reason to think that Lynch might have been partially inspired by it.

Lynch lists his favorite movie as Sunset Boulevard so that's worth watching too, though I haven't gotten around to it myself.

I wonder what Cole, Albert, and Diane are going to do when they find out the warden let Dopplecoop out. Well obviously they'll go looking for him but I wonder if the warden will get punished in any way.

So does Carnivale happen in the same universe as Twin Peaks? It seems like it would fit in perfectly, and I feel like if any non-Lynch work might fit into a Lynch-verse it would be Carnivale.

>>
>>84683343
newfag here. What is Twin Peaks about? Is it investigations, murders, mysteries, etc? Didn't Google because spoilers.
>>
>>84695527
It is a reboot. It's not like they intentionally left 25 years between the seasons.
They would have done S3 in '92 if they had the freedom and backing.
Lynch was planning on doing 3 TP movies in the 90's before FWWM got BTFO by critics.
>>
>>84695598
A reboot ignores all previous story. This is a straight continuation.

I would trade a testicle for a complete, lossless source of this show
>>
>>84695598

I don't think you understand what the word reboot means. It would be a reboot if they completely discarded everything about the old show and started over from scratch with new people playing the characters. This is just a season that took a long time to happen.
>>
>>84695629
It's not like X files or other shows which do the "supernatural" aspect, either. The supernatural aspect is really fucking weird (because it's done by David Lynch).

>>
>>84696261
That Showtime delayed it by not initially giving Lynch the money he wanted.
>>
>>84696128
The "I'll see you again in 25 lynchings" thing was a reference to Coppers dream, the first time he was in the Red Room, where he was 25 years older.

>The term is thought to originate from the computer term for restarting a computer system.[2]
WHATS THAT ABOUT MY FILES?
>>
>>84696521
>Early electronic computers (like the 1401) had no operating system and little internal memory. The input was often a stack of punch cards. The computer was initiated by pressing a start button that performed a single command, read a card. This first card then instructed the machine to read more cards that eventually loaded a user program. This process was likened to an old saying, "picking yourself up by the bootstraps", referring to a horseman who lifts himself off the ground by pulling on the straps of his boots. This set of initiating punch cards was called "bootstrap cards". Thus a cold start was called booting the computer up. If the computer crashed, it was rebooted. The boot reference carried over to all subsequent types of computers. For more, see Bootstrapping.
