>horror movie
>sequel begins almost immediately where the first one left off
I love this shit, post examples
Halloween 2
See no Evil 2
Cold Prey 2
Dead Snow 2

HELLRAISER 2 NIGGA. HELLRAISER 2.
I was thinking of this trope the other day. Halloween 2 is a solid follow-up.

Can't believe I forgot that one
>they couldn't get the rights to show clips from the fist movie
>just do a remake of the 1st and make it better
>>84624388
More like
>just take the worst part of the first movie and drag it out to a full movie
Maniac Cop 2

>they couldn't get the rights to show clips from the fist movie
>just do a remake of the 1st and make it better

Ash going into the puddle and then coming up possessed is basically the end of the first movie and the beginning of the sequel.

Friday the 13th 2 - 4 do this.

>and make it better
The opposite is true. The only good thing about Evil Dead is that it leads into Army of Darkness

This. I always liked the first one the most. 2 is still fun though.

The silliness of the first came off as genuine and possibly unintentional, which made it that much better. The whole, "Maybe it's raccoons", suggestion getting shut down with the guy saying that that totally logical explanation of what the noise was being the stupidest thing he's ever heard made me laugh. Hard. Evil Dead 2 just took everything that worked and turned the Three Stooges bullshit up to 11. I hated 2, but actually like Army of Darkness because it is its own thing and knew what it wanted to be from the beginning.
It's like Return of the Living Dead and Return of the Living Dead 2. The original is great, they kind of just remade the shit, which wasn't bad I guess, but it's nowhere near as good as the original.

Basically the entire Saw series.

Yeah, it really helped that Army of Darkness was in an entirely different setting. Made it feel fresh.
