After seeing pic related, I have complete faith in Denis Villeneuve

I lost faith in Denis Villeneuve after Arrival.

and it doesn't help that the Blade Runner trailers look exactly like Ghost in the Shell.

Didn't see Arrival yet but I completely trust for Blade Runner.
Sicario is a true masterpiece, easily the best from the ones I have seen.

Watch the behind the scenes "time to live" featurette, there are forced perspective miniatures in use and fabulous sets among other things like great costuming, all good signs. Blade runner created the visual style for the cyberpunk genre, of course contemporaries will look like it.

My problem is it still looks like the first movie.

Blade runner was so path breaking because of how it depicted the future. This movie had the chance to turn it up a notch and show how the future of the future looks like, but no, they stuck with memberberries instead.

I always thought documenting social change due to replicant infiltration and perhaps civil rights movements in their name were the next step forward for a blade runner sequel. Other important aspects would be expansion of what we know about the blade runner world, like the colonies, outside L.A and whatever the tannheiser gate is, show us that. Expecting the visuals to change drastically into something that isn't cyberpunk is naive, you expect too much. Look towards non sequel films without the shadow of creating a genre behind them, if you need new aesthetic realizations. Otherwise just enjoy the show.

All 5 are good to great imo.

Prisoners is a tad overrated certainly, Arrival is pretty great if you get over the semi-time paradox, and Sicario is actually kind of subtle.

Enemy is his best thus far though I would agree.

If you watched Sicario in theaters like i did, you would not be questioning Denis Villeneuve.
