Sometimes it works if the director/producers involved know what they are doing. Fury Road is arguably as good if not better than Road Warrior, for example.

The problem with Twin Peaks is that it was made specifically for normies (i.e. people who didn't really know/care about Twin Peaks or Lynch's movies), and then of course there is the fact that Lynch is senile.
