For me it's his most rewatchable movie, goes the deepest into dream logic territory, can be interpreted in a number of different ways, the way he uses the camera in the movie is pretty expressive, and Laura Dern being the main character is also a plus. The number of times music is used in the movie always is fantastic too. It's not only my favorite Lynch movie but one of my favorite movies period.

If I didn't know Blue Velvet was made by Lynch, I would say it's one of those throwaway 80s movies with a couple of weird scenes.

Since I know it's made by Lynch, I know that it's purposefully cliche and melodramatic in moments and those "weird" scenes are actually dreamlike introspections into the human soul and the Laura Dern's bad acting is actually a tool for displaying raw teenage emotion.

Isn't it interesting that just by having this image of the director, I can view a film differently as better/worse?
