Lexx is British "humor" so unless you like British skits a la Monty Python or Fawlty Towers it's unlikely you'll enjoy Lexx.

One of the few anime that transcends its medium.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes!

It's very meditative and info heavy, however the discussions and ruminations on war and political structure are very well done. There's contrarian opinions floating around here, but for the most part it's a great show. Few shortcomings.

A little old now but i would recommend " Space: Above and Beyond ".

Basically the pacific war in space but good to watch in my opinion.

The Problem in the end was money. It was already clear that it will be cancelled because for the studio a single episode was too expansive. And there the end was hamfisted.
But i still like it.

This one right here OP. Flash Gordon is cheesy as hell but the ending is so satisfying. The fun characters really make this movie.
