Most of the time I just keep mine in my pockets while watching, but then I notice I'm doing it and I think the characters start looking at me funny so I take them out and just kinda sit there with my arms folded across my chest if there are no snacks in sight

People like to be kept busy which is why popcorn is the perfect movie snack. It's something that takes a long time to eat in small pieces. It keeps your hands busy so you're just not sitting perfectly still. Also, people just like eating and relaxing while you watch a movie is a good opportunity to eat.
