Why do people hate this one again?

It's almost as good as the first film
>>

>Why do people hate this one again?
Mostly superficial stuff like T-Rex jobbing to Spino, Grant and Ellie didn't get married, Isla Sorna doesn't look like how it was in TLW.

>It's almost as good as the first film
Far from it.

I guess that's better than JW then.

In her defense, she was a desperate mother who had no idea what she was getting into.

On the other hand Claire from JW had no damn excuse.
>>
I think it was too much action to be honest. The fun of Jurassic Park is you get to pretend that there's a world of Dinosaurs. JP1, 2, and World knew that and gave a bunch of fun happy scenes with the Dinosaurs.

And for the record I totally agree that World is dumb as shit, but it's still fun to see the Dinosaur theme park.
>>
It's the best JP sequel. Best part was the Spino beating the shit out of that weak T-Rex.

>>
>>84417133

Honestly?

The lighting.

The Lost World was dark, gritty, menacing and full of rain and dirt. The humor was character driven.

JP3 was like a family fun expedition where there happened to be dinos. By JP and TLW standards, only Grant would have made it out alive out of the island.

Plus the whole "3d printed acoustic brain part used to communicate with raptors" really took the cake.

>>84417581
I hate how people pretend folks dislike that scene because the t-rex loses
it's just a stupid scene, nobody called bullshit when the t-rex in Walking with Dinosaurs lost from the ankylosaur because that was a well crafted scene, had a believable origin for the conflict and had a proper, animalistic response from both parties
>>
>>84418637
The only thing that really pissed me about this movie was the climax about the raptors killing the spinosaurus being cut beause of time/money constrains.
>>
As an adult, JP is clearly better but 3 was my favorite as a kid, still might prefer it to this day. Just something about that pterodactyl scene and having a Nemesis like dinosaur in pursuit that was awesome. Indominos or whatever in the new movie just come and goes randomly.

Also I was happy as a kid with the random 'Billy isn't dead!' asspull
>>
>>84417133
I wouldn't say almost but it's definitely the second best.

JP3 - 6/10

Death of a Dynasty is so depressing

>T-Rex dies from her wounds while her chicks run around her corpse in confusion
>chicks end up dying right after from the meteor explosion
>old torosaurus gets his horn fucked up and will never mate again
>herd of herbivores have one of their young brutally ripped to shreds by raptors
>all those animals dying in the gas pit
>>
>>84418893

I makes me happy knowing that scum like you will never reproduce.
>>
>>84418907
Beyond the awesome level of spectacle this could have been, what would have made it even better is the fact that it perectly works in the direction of the themes of the movie with raptor intelligence overcoming brute force and giving us what JP claimed was all about since the first movie, raptors stealing the show. I think people would have been much less butthurt with raptors killing the beast that killed Muh-Rex as well.
>>
>>84418936
>no sam neill

I'm being generous with 4/10.

This, to me it is the best eye candy of the series, even though I'll always have a soft spot for how all the tech in TLW felt (which the captured pretty well in 3)

The introduction to that scene is absolutely awesome.

They did great, mixing a high level of threat with a strong visual identity plus the funny phone ring.

fucking yes, all those big clunky overbuilt dino catching tools, and the fact that 90% of the ingen crew had the 'fishing jacket operator' aesthetic down pat

I'm going to throw TLW and then 3 up on my spare monitor now because of this thread
>>
People don't like this movie, they like the dinosaur parts of this movie.

The movie tries too hard to emulate the first, giving more screentime to characters that nobody cares about than the dinosaurs we're here to see.

You can make the shitty excuse that every monster movie does that. But this movie fails even on that spectrum. unlike many of those movies the experience would have been vastly better if the human cast was cut down to Alan Grant, the boy, and his associate (Or at least the surviving cast)

JP's legacy was every use of CGI afterward, this movie's legacy was 15 year olds arguing about if the most well understood fossilized animal would lose against one of the least well understood fossilized animals.
>>
>>84418450
They weren't married in the book tho. She was ''just'' his intern or something along those lines.
>>
>>84419526
Grant didn't develop as a character in the book.
It makes sense that people were put off of the discarding of the already simplistic character development.

It would be great if they went all out with the monster flick but they didnt, the director clearly thinks we're here for the kirbys, and JP3 is by far the JP film oversaturated with misplaced character development
>>
>>84418933
>chicks end up dying right after from the meteor explosion
think of the bright side, at least they got a quick incineration instead of slowly dying of hunger and possibly being eaten alive by scavengers

and course, sure it is depressing, but that's what made the series so good: it treated dinosaurs like the animals they were and no matter how much you hate it, nature's a bitch.
>>
>>84419391
>giving more screentime to characters that nobody cares about than the dinosaurs we're here to see
The other sequels are much more guilty of that though.
>>
>>84419017
anon, as far as im concerned, youre no better than the people who built this thread
>>
>>84419679
And those sequels did not have characters hated to the degree of the kirbys

Those character's arcs were not drawn to attention to the degree of the kirbys
This film is the only film in which the character development is
A: Not of the protagonist
B: More relevant to the story than the main attraction
C: Actively functions against the protagonist
>>
>>84419017
but JP2 was a fantastic commentary on the dangers of unrestrained environmental activism

I mean you have activists actively causing the deaths of several people on behalf of creatures which aren't just an invasive species actively eradicating all the native creatures of the islands they inhabit but also were created entirely through artificial means by modern technology and don't even come close to resembling the extinct animals they're based on
>>
jp - 8
tlw - 7
jp3 - 4
jw - 3
>>
>>84417133
JP EPICCLAWSCRATCHBRO! is fucking SyFy original movie tier, only with pretty good effects. it simply does not have the same cinematic flair of the original or even any of the others
>>
This film is the one liked the least by the cast and creators.

JP, TLW, and JW interviews and behind the scenes are loaded with the cast enthusiastically pouring their heart into the concept.

JP3 you get a business woman talking about how great this will be for the JP brand

JP3 was the toyseller, it had the most videogames and toys released in its wake. It aired on kids channels unlike all of the others, completely uncensored because there was nothing to censor.

People lie and say its just a explosive fun monster flick, when in reality its less fun version of the first flim, with less likable characters, exaggerated animal behavior (A velociraptor pretends to be a frozen clone?), and overly short monster scenes that never go for the money shot.

The film ends coldly, with no climax, where the other three hit you with the craziest shit they can come up with.

In this movie, the highlight scenes are all towards the beginning.
>>
Why do the raptor change in every film? They go from dull and grey to bright orange and striped, then suddenly feathers.
I get that at the time dinosaur studies were changing and stated that they could have been vibrantly colored and some (such as the raptor) may have had feathers, but they'd already been established as one thing in the first movie. To change them in every movie is just a bad call.
Also the velociraptor was more the size of a medium sized dog. The dinosaurs in the movie were most likely based on the Deinonychus.
They're decent movies though, but they're all flawed in some way. 3rd one most of all.
>>
>>84418532
Laura dern was clearly playing the role of a 37 year old dr/researcher
>>
>>84420244
According to stan winston, the JP2 raptors are male variants of the first film's raptors.

Velociraptor in real life is known to have feathers just as much as it has bones. There is no decent explanation for it in the movie.

JW suggests they're mutants, but it doesnt explain how in every fossil scene they still dig up man sized raptrs

Deinonychus, Velociraptor, and Utahraptor would reasonably all have more feathers than a common bird, and Deinonychus isnt even half the size of JP raptors

Tge pterodactyls were entirely misshandled. The whole novelty of them is they can blind side u from the sky. Putting them in a cage and havng them walk around just made them raptirs with wings. Infact the pterodactyl raid was the only thing jurassic world got right

When people defend JP3, they're defending the first 18 minutes. Its nothing but a slow drag after that with random Spinosaurus appearances
>>
>>84420227

Which is funny because all the JP3 toys were shit compared to the Jurassic Park ones.
>>
>>84419017
casper knew this
>>
>>84420575
Sounds a lot like TLW with T-Rex actually. JW was just insufferable all along until the 5 minutes of climax.
>>
This movie ruined spinosaurus
This animal is not understood remotely and isnt of any priority regarding actual science.

Every argument about if it could beat tyrannosaurus is rendered pointless by the fact that we dont know what the fuck it even is.

The 2014 representation was odd, after ONE scientist DISCUSSED it the entire JP3 fanbase incessantly perpetuated that it was DEBUNKED.

JP3 is a failure in film and almost deliberately made the perpetuation of ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE more difficult
>>
>>84420749
Jurassic Park was NEVER about scientifically accurate dinosaurs.
>>
>>84417278
>Shouting like a fishmonger
>>
>>84417133
It acts like a high budget b-movie. The lazy replacement of the Rex and the emphasis of "it's bigger" just annoys me. It sells toys. The sets look cheap, the acting from most of the cast is stale, even from Sam. Of course, it isn;t helped by the script. The lighting is one of the worst parts for me. Very dull, and not in a bleak, artistic way. The soundtrack is not very memorable, either. In the first one, we have that classic, awe inspiring score. Excellent work, and although I don't like the lost world that much, I'll admit the music for it was amazing, especially with the drums. Jp3 just has nothing.

Obvious b8.

> A L A N
>>
>>84420964
Shut the fuck up. The first jurassic park has the most time accurate dinosaurs of any film bar fucking none.

But thats not my point, my point is that while none of the JP films are accurate, JP3 is the first to make a job as a paleontologist fucking harder
>>
>>84421080
Also I didn't like jurassic world either. Whored itself out for nostalgia so hard but didn't end up capturing a drop of the cinematic quality of wonder of the first one, maybe even two.
>>
>>84421157
Not that anon, but the Raptors and Dilophosaurus are extremely in Jurassic Park are extremely inaccurate. It's funny because velociraptors would be the size of the Dilo in the movie IRL, and the real Dilophosaurus was the same size if not larger then the movie raptors.
>>
Most people hate it I imagine because its a 90 minute advertisement for toys lacking all the wonder and spectacle of the original film

It was the first Jurassic Park Film I saw though when I was six years old though and I always have loved it more than the others because of how many times I've watched it sense

First One's a better movie by far but I'll take 3 over that second one anyday, what with the using gymnastics to kill Raptors and disappearance of key characters right at the end
>>
JP 3 has hit the point that a JP scene FOR THE FANS is anything regarding JP3 being insulted
>>
>>84421080
>The soundtrack is not very memorable, either

the soundtrack is an immediate giveaway that JP3 is uninspired dogshit. one of the best things about TLW was that it dared to be very different from the first one, including the soundtrack, which consists for the most part of a pretty groovy drumming that gives you the sense of being on a safari. it uses the epic JP theme VERY sparingly, and when it does, it's really effective.

in JP3 you can't go 5 minutes without the movie blaring the original JP theme as if it's waving its arms and yelling "lookie I'm a real JP movie!" no you're not. shit, it's the first thing that happens when we are treated to the oh so epic sight of some gay kid paragliding. it's like a star wars sequel where half the score consists of repeating the opening title theme. fuck JP3
>>
>>84421383
Exactly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH658z9vBa8

Although I didn't enjoy JW, the callback to this theme when the raptor is running up is nice.
This theme was a big part of my childhood.

The dilophasaurus being small could have just meant it was young. The raptor being but is an annoyance though.
