Almost 20 years and not a single film has yet to top this battle scene? Why?
It's almost amazing this movie was directed by Spielberg. Almost can't believe it.
>>84373164
Spielberg understands how to pull on an emotional narrative that locks you into the scene instead of it being constant jump cuts. See Jurassic Park etc.
>>84373164
>It's almost amazing this movie was directed by Spielberg
What did you mean by this?
>>84373312
he's probably underage, and Spielberg hasn't made anything decent in his lifetime
>>84373312
I mean Spielberg isn't a very good director but it amazes me he directed this movie. Oh, and he's a Jew.
>>84373352
>he's probably underage
And why would I be underage? I saw this movie in theaters while you were probably shitting in your diapers.
>>84373164
What about 90% of Black Hawk Down?
>>84373416
Black Hawk Down isn't a good movie at all. It's not memorable, I can't remember anybody's names and there was no heart to it.
>>84373372
>paying to see (((movies)))
Settle down gramps
>>84373484
Going to answer the question? Why would I be underage? What does that even mean in the context of what I was talking about?
>>84373353
>Spielberg isn't a very good director
whew
>>84373164
>>84375317
Except for the odd film. Name is best work of all time and his best film in the 2000s-10s
>>84373445
Lmao Jesus christ how do you end up such a pleb?
>>84373164
the opening scene of The Revenant came close.
>>84375379
Black Hawk Down is a shit war film bud, best war film ever made is Das Boot. But Saving Private Ryan comes close.
>>84375395
Good scene but shit movie.
>>84373352
The Terminal is GOAT.
>>84375431
>The Terminal
Not him but it's a classic Spielbergian movie that just feels manufactured, but in an alright kind of way.
Like Coca Cola or something.
>>84375421
Best war film is The Longest Day son
>>84375421
Best war film is come and see u fucking idiot
>>84375533
Einzatsgruppen did nothing wrong.
>>84375495
I always get that mixed up with A Bridge Too Far. Never seen it yet.
>>84375533
Das Boot is better.
>>84375630
>I always get that mixed up with A Bridge Too Far. Never seen it yet.
How, retard? One came out 20 years after the other. Christ you're a retard.
Some of the stuff in Hacksaw Ridge got damn close.
>>84373164
I always had an intense dislike of Matt Damon for so long, one day I figured out I hated him because I blamed him for get Tom Hanks killed in this movie
>>84375649
someone post the webms
>>84375644
Because they're both probably kinda lame. Bridge Too Far wasn't very well made.
to be fair, nobody had made a ww2 movie on that scale until that point and we havent had one since. Most movies about D-day were black and white and from the 50s, Spielberg was able to bring everything to the table with modern technology and film making on a subject covered in john wayne esque rose colored glasses. Fury was just as brutal and in some instances more brutal, but it was on 1/4 the scale
>>84375533
>war film
>come and see
It is USSR propaganda movie m8.
All USSR war movies basically anti nazi propaganda and nothing else.
>>84373164
Paths of Glory wasn't bad, and it was 50 years earlier
>>84375809
>Fury was just as brutal and in some instances more brutal, but it was on 1/4 the scale
And also a shitty movie. Had potential though.
>M'ASK YA SUMTHIN... DO YA FEEL IT? THIS IS WAR! IT'S WAR! DO YOU FEEL IT?
>>84375376
>his best film in the 2000s-10s
Underage fag detected.
>>84375908
>Underage
Fucking Christ you dumb nigger, I'm trying to compare between his last and probably only good film of the 90s with what he's done recently (absolute shit)
>>84373507
since no one answered your question, because you're dumb enough to imply that Spielberg wasn't a good enough of a director to be able to make such a great distinctive scene.
I wish this wasn't going to be PG
It might have been the best war film in a fair while
>>84376060
Compare this and War Horse and it's almost like Spielberg without good producers is a nobody.
>>84376152
>2011
I said wasn't btw
Somewhere along the way Spielberg lost something. Probably became an SJW or super liberal or something, but whatever he had in 1998 is gone now.
>>84376313
Yeah, he doesn't have those specific people who wanted to make that specific movie.
>>84376367
No, he became a shittier director.
>>84375372
Truly a work of cinematic perfection.
>>84375873
Fury tried too hard to be GRITTY AND DARK and the whole fucking cinematography looked like ass
>>84373164
Dunkirk is coming. Nolan won't let us down.
>>84377179
Will it be big?
>>84377179
>>84376130
it's obvious from the trailer that dunkirk is going to be The Thin Red Line except nothing happens
>>84377215
The biggest since the silent era.
>>84377300
Except Nolan is a hack and Malick isn't.
>>84377500
Half of your statement is correct.
>>84377300
>Thin Red Line except nothing happens
sooo, the Thin Red Line?
>>84377555
I guess trips of truth dictates Malik is a hack does it?
>>84373445
>>84375421
>having taste this shit
He was just being ironic, right?
>>84377614
>shit taste
>Das Boot
>>84375863
>a war movie can't be propaganda
What did he mean by this?
>>84377640
>kraut shit
Fuck off nazi
>>84377683
>muh nabzies!
>>84373164
Ah yes such a great scene that depicts how the western nations colluded with kikes to get rid of the evil nazis and thus cement the end of white people world wide.
>>84377179
I liked this film better when it was called Atonement.
>>84375809
The scale also adds to the impact. There is so much going on on screen, lots of other actors and it doesn't focus on just the main guys you see them later on. You can feel the impact it has on all those lives and you can actually see how many died. In plenty of others, this is for me why they also were never able to come close and why the stuff after the opening didn't compare, the scale is smaller, you have less people, you are either in some ruins or whatever and the enemy is few and/or die too quick to give a damn about. This is why the opening for Enemy at the gates worked, it shows you literally the entire city burning.
>>84377750
Ah yes, I clearly wasn't talking about the technical aspects of the scene.
>>84377656
Nazi always MUH EVIL MAN, THEY ARE LITERALLY DEVILS in USSR movies.
They look just like comic book villains. In every movie.
Just look at nazis in "Come and See".
Bikes, latex nazi woman, ultra violence nazi party? Laughable.
>>84377683
Still I wasn't ready for these feels..
