Fail-Safe over Strangelove?
Did you like Sorcerer?
Which version of Das Boot?
>>84359180
>Fail-Safe over Strangelove?
Absolutely. Yeah it's the same narrative as Dr. Strangelove, just the gut-wrenching opposite in terms of execution and atmosphere.
Also features Henry Fonda as the best on-screen american president in cinema history. The film delivers much more impact on the viewer than Dr. Strangelove, it's almost like a horror film.
They are both great films, I just strongly prefer Fail-Safe because of Lumet.
>Did you like Sorcerer?
Sorcerer was actually a decent remake, I just found Friedkin's version lacking especially in the first act, not as "raw" and mechanical as the original.
>Which version of Das Boot?
The 3 and a half hour Directors Cut, I know I have to watch the original mini-series

Henry Fonda was pretty good. I don't like Lumet in general, but loved Network and Fail-Safe is a good film for sure.
Have fun with the miniseries

A good amount of "famous" Lumet films are a bit overrated like Serpico and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead so people are mostly put off to check the rest of his filmography, which is a shame because films like The Hill, The Offence and The Pawnbroker are all brilliant.
Both The Hill and The Offence even feature Sean fucking Connery in the lead role and they are still mostly obscure, while being probably one of the best performances of his entire career.

I really disliekd Serpico and BtDKYD, seen quite a few Lumets by accident more or less. I'll give a shot to the Sean Connery films he made, thanks for the recs.
