Mid-90s UFC-like movie? The UFC was 'born' in 1993. If it was on tv, chances are it was made in 93 or 94 to capitalize on that 'new' sport.

Anyway, I know a lot about 80s&90s martial arts movies, so if you have any idea how the lead looked like, I should be able to figure out the movie.

I'm pretty sure it was exactly that, an attempt to capitalize on the "new" sport. But the hero was a white guy with a generic white American name. I think maybe he was supposed to take a dive but didn't when the crowd started cheering for him thus the conflict with the league owner. Almost reminded me of that episode of futurama where binder is a champion fighter

Could it be Gary Daniels? That guy is good, but plain/generic and was in many 90s b-movies. I don't recall any plot like that with him, but I may have missed a few of his movies.

It had that kind of feel to it but that's not it, damn I didn't realize how many bad martial arts movies came out in the 90's. I'm gonna have to go rummage through some video stores or something but it may just be lost to time. Thanks for the help though

Alright I found it, It's probably more of a c rate movie but it's called Superfights. Cheesy as fuck but I enjoyed it, maybe some of you guys will too. Thanks for the help though.
