Chapter 2 felt like an adaption of a comic book with all that pretentious and bloated Continental lore.
Wick himself was straight up superhero,

Why do people have issues with the bulletproof suit? It's not like the director used it as an excuse that he couldn't die, because he got shot several times and visibly stumbled due to the bullet impacts. He stayed in character with all his injuries, including that leg limp that stuck with him for half the movie.

Even The Raid 2 suffered from this, it goes from badass rookie just about holding his own against hordes of drug addicts to Rama vs The World and completely screws over the ending to 1 to wipe the slate clean. It was just excusable because it's still a really amazing film on its own and the choreography is still miles above anything else.

I mean like as a movie device. Obviously it exists in real life, but I'm saying that it wasn't used as a flat out explanation as to why Wick could magically survive an onslaught of bullets.
It was used to show that it merely increased his survivability against large numbers of skilled assassins, as there were several instances where he was visible shot, causing him to show signs of pain.

Actually one of the best parts of JW is that John actually gets beaten and wounded several times throughout the film. He gets scarred up and limps around and struggles to function because of his injuries. The bulletproof suit does lessen this tension a bit, but he still limps around for a lot of 2. Compare this to Vin Diesel in FF or even the classic action stars like Schwarzenegger (no hate, Arnie is the fucking man) who barely even get scratched in their films. JW is pretty fallible despite his high kill count.

The pacing in the second one is a bit wonky but JW1 is paced beautifully. Full half hour buildup to puppy death and John getting established as the boogey man before we see any action. Then the first action scene is short and sweet with Wick taking out the guys in his house and the action steadily builds from there.

JW2 had a shit villain but I really like Viggo in the first one. He's funny and charming and terrified of John Wick but still intimidating enough to be a believable gangster.

Keanu can't act but he really doesn't have to. ALL he does is kill people. He is one of the best choices for a role like this because he can physically do the stunts and fighting and makes all the shooting look convincing because he trained for months.
