Why is this made fun of so often?
Obi-Wan was right in that the high ground gave him an advantage and secured him the victory in the fight.

Having the high ground is anything but an advantage in a sword fight, however.
His real advantage was the fact that Anakin had to make himself vulnerable as he jumped from the floating platform to the solid ground. That was the advantage. His relative height meant nothing.
And if Anakin hadn't of jumped carelessly, and instead just landed well in front of Obi, Anakin would be at a huge advantage.
Anakin would have the reach advantage and have an easier time swiping at Obi's feet. Whereas Obi would be extending his body to reach downwards to fight Anakin at awkward angles.

Because people are fucking morons, that's why.

Remember the end of Phantom Menace? Where he was literally hanging by fingers directly under Darth Maul? Then he needed to do a magic plot spin to end up behind him?
Not having the high ground didn't really hurt him then, did it?
Why tell him that though?

I'm no expert in sword fighting, but that doesn't sound right at all

because Anakin could of just hoverboarded the fuck out of there instead of being mutilated
did he really have the high ground when anakin jumped above him? Really makes you think..

He still had the moral high ground and evidence to that effect, which ensured that Anakin would not be an accepted governing entity by any metric if his videotaped actions in the temple came to light.
