Everything is black and white for the giant. He was on a lighthouse on an island, steady in the middle of a turbulent sea. IMO it's a case of being the watchman and unable to actively influence things, but being responsible for there being balance. So he used some of his/their own essence to try and counteract the experiment's children. Laura wasn't an angel or anything, but her soul was imbued with a bit extra souliness, it drew darkness to her but made those around her burn brighter.

The giant's action may be the reason that the lighthouse was now floating in space with only the lower floor and blind woman, could now only listen and not watch. Maybe be why he required Briggs, he was his eyes.

It was left ambiguous as to whether the hobos were there before the experiment or not. To me it looked like they were, but were listless and aimless, and there was no second floor to the convenience store. Then the spirits that the Experiment spewed forth came and created/inhabited the second floor and gained control/influence over those spirits.

The Giant and Girl clearly seem like good spirits, unlike TMFAP/MIKE/BOB. Cooper is in the red room, gets sent away by the arm into the box and then into the mauve zone where the eyeless woman tries to save him from going into the wrong port.

Every other time we've been there we've seen the logo from the outside, exact same shot.
