Exactly. This made me think, is Based Tom Cruise the ONLY actor alive today who actually earns/justifies his huge salaries? No matter how good/bad the movie, Tom Cruise always gives his 100% and will go to extreme measures to give it his all and you NEVER hear him complain about it. He's always got a smile on his face and is excited about the job at hand. Isn't pretentious about his job either like Clooney and Co.

Daniel Day-Lewis. He learned to speak Czech only because of that Milan Kundera novel. Spent the entire filming of My Left Foot in a wheelchair. Trained so hard for a year and half to the role of the Boxer that his (former-champ) trainer said he could have turned into a pro. And the list goes on.

Some movies genuinely sound really hard. All the ones where they have to film out in harsh weather sound awful. Sure they are being paid a lot, but for the crew and the actors the weather sounds really bad at times for some movies.
>>
What Bruce Campbell says about the Evil Dead shoots sounds honestly like a bad time. Like he was really abused by Sam Raimi who got off on it.

The chick from The Shining had a nervous breakdown because Stanley Kubrick kept messing with her mind.
>>
>>84316079
This plus anons itt are vastly underestimating how long movies take to shoot. Yes, a simple indie movie can be wrapped in six weeks or so but a more complicated production can stretch on for months. The Shining is notorious for taking nearly a year to finish.
>>
>>84312945

>>
>>84317062
I'm not disparaging blue collar workers and most movie stars don't complain about their lives. I was just pointing out that film shoots can involve long ass hours in crappy conditions so it's not as easy as people are making it out to be.

Also, you're focusing only on the actors and completely ignoring the hard working crew members that aren't getting paid nearly as well and still busting ass for 14-16 hours a day. Disrespectful desu. Without them, the movies wouldn't get made.

Let's make a distinction here. We're talking about movie stars, not actors in general. Supporting character actors aren't raking in millions per year. Like any other career field, movie stars are at the absolute top and are compensated accordingly.

Even Nobodies get like 50k a year if they can find work semi regularly.

Not many other fields can get you that kinda pay for such easy work and little to not education. Unless you want to bust your ass doing like king crab fishing or rebar welding on skyscrapers.
>>
>>84318012
To be honest,I don't like hearing any actor complaining about working. My parents were MDs and we barely seen them and they never complained. The other day I saw a guy who played a minor role on an american tv show driving the latest model mercedes. So I think they are doing pretty well for playing pretend.
>>
>>84318284
True, acting is relatively easy work but also a super difficult field to find steady employment in. It's also heavily unionized and therefore extra difficult to break into until you qualify to join.

You're never paid what you "should be" you fools. You're paid what you can get your employer to pay, and your employer will pay as little as they can get you to agree to, unless someone else can give them the same return on their money for less. Tom Cruise gets paid millions because everyone knows his name, which means his name on a poster and his face in a movie will net that movie more of an audience (and therefore more money) than some nobody. The higher the value of your output, the more unique, the higher you can demand. There is no "should be paid" or "deserves" or "earned" happening, it's a game of get as much as you can for what you're giving.

If it's so easy to remember lines and act, why aren't they doing it? There's a reason carrying things around don't pay much. Acting requires a crazy amount of hours of practice and rehearsal, then you're put in the spotlight, you have to repeat each take 30 times, then you have to come back to re-record some lines months later (also multiple takes, then you have to go on a promotion tour, then you record stuff for the blu-ray releases, then you have to appear in all shows to support the movie. You got money, but you barely can call one place home, you can't have pets, your children don't recognize you, your wife is fucking the gardener and spending your money while you're away etc.
