What movie really triggered the capeshit trend?
Or do you think Marvel was planning this for decades while waiting for the technology?
It was obviously Spiderman
Spider-Man, X-Men, and to a lesser extent Blade proved there was money to be made, but Iron Man and The Dark Knight being released in the same year made capeshit THE trend to follow.

Xmen made it a valid practice for blockbusters and iron man took it to the next level
It's slowing down at least
In my mind I'm just hoping video game movies aren't going through the equivalent of the early 2000s was for capeshit and in 5-10 years when they've milked capeshit dry /v/shit is jump-started off the back of 1-2 successful movies
The Dark Knight followed by Avengers. Atleast TDK set a high bar while Avengers ruined everything.

To be fair if we're strictly speaking in terms of cinematography (camera, special effect, soundtrack, acting) TDK was had some strong points and was overall decent.
But plot and dialogue wise it was hot garbage,
