>Come with me, it is the only way
What if Luke just kept clinging onto the antenna thing just to fuck Vader off? Would Vader get annoyed after an hour or so of trying and failing to coax Luke over and be all "Look, it's nearly half 6, I want my dinner and frankly you're being a bit of a faggot"?

He would have turned after prolonged exposure to the Dark side.

Vader would have got pissed off and just used the Force to lift Luke off there.

Yeah why didn't he just force grab his ass when he jumped
Luke probably should've feigned surrender over jumping to certain death and leaving the rebels with no Jedi.

He was conflicted and depressed after being reject. Thats why he didn't strangle Admiral Piet when the Falcon escaped, Vader was too depressed about being rejected to be angry.
This all plays a bigger part in Return, as Vader by then realised that luke rejected Darth Vader, but wants to be with his father anakin skywalker. But as a sith he could not do anything to get luke on his side, except seducing him to the dark side. But deep down he knew this would destroy luke, as the dark side twists you and is self destructive. So Vader was just going with the motions untill luke's faith in him, and the emperor giving him the time to think about everything that the dark side took away from him, made him reject the dark side and sacrifice himself to safe luke.

The force is basically influencing everyones actions and decisions. Luke jumped because he "felt" that this was the best option.
Star Wars has limited free will, everything happens because the force is influencing things to stay balanced. Too much dark side control? Things get influenced to combat this and brings balance back. Too much light side? Force again start to influence to bring balance back.

Sounds like a shitty existence. Your actions being dictated by some magic tree on the edge of the known galaxy.

Everything we do is influenced by entropy
