>I hung my socks over cnn
>can you feel the anticipation
>I can feel it comey in the air tonight ohhh lord
>I'm not the only one ready to partaayyyy

Am I right or am I right? 4chan (and the Internet in general) couldn't stop from sucking Colbert's dick back in the Bush administration back in the FAUX NEWS LOL days and now that you've grown up and become a bit more conservative your hero says shit you don't agree with and hangs out with people you don't like and it hurts to be "betrayed" by your former idol, don't it? Sucks that the man whose ass you kissed for over a decade and who you basically helped propel into super stardom has turned around and called you all bigots for disagreeing with him.

>Daily anti-American divisive bullshit on /tv/

>Foundations of Geopolitics, a textbook for the Russian politburo teaches: "Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States to fuel instability and separatism, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists". Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics."

>It's funny how he's known as a promo guy now when back in his first appearance on Monday Night Raw, the Miz botched his promo while hosting the 2006 Diva Search. He forgot his lines and ended up reading the phone number for casting votes written on his wrist in the most obvious manner.
>On the 6/2/12 edition of Raw, R-Truth does a Slingshot Somersault Senton but Miz fails to catch him. This resulted in the Miz getting "loudly disciplined" backstage by none other than Triple H.
>On the 1/21/13 edition of Raw, the Miz botches the figure-four leglock... on Dolph Ziggler, the guy that the WWE Universe wanted Ric Flair to pass his signature submission move to instead.
>On Summerslam 2014, during his Intercontinental Championship match against Dolph Ziggler, the Miz sells the Famouser weirdly, immediately popping up like a spring after receiving it before no-selling it entirely and doing a Skull-Crushing Finale as a "counter".
>On the 9/14/15 edition of Raw, during a segment with The Wyatt Family, the Miz botches his lines, saying "Hell in a Cell" instead of "Night of Champions".
>On the 5/29/17 edition of Raw, during the finish of a Six-Man Tag Team Match, the Miz botched the Matt Hardy Finishing Move Twist of Fate, selling it as Swinging Neck Breaker.

I imagined an alternate universe Steven becoming so obsessed with Trump that even after he's no longer in office Steven just exclusively uses him in his monologues. Like him just talking about his day to day life after the presidency and the studio execs pleading with him to stop talking about him. But Steven won't stop, the guests even start worrying and questioning him about his obsession while being interviewed.

It goes on for so long that Stevens eventual last will and funeral service will have Trump references.

Never said it was a homophobic joke, just that he made gay jokes on Trump because he's still doing the "lol gay" stuff, and that he recently got in trouble for it.

And it was a joke on the Redskins, because he was a SJW who thought the Redskins was a racist name and wanted to highlight how ridiculous it was by being over-the-top racist.

And yes, the left was shit at that time, as evidenced by Suey Park not getting the joke, not getting that Colbert was on her SJW side, and trying to eat her own.

Because its not a comedy show anymore, t's a normie brainwashing operation aka propaganda.

A better way to put it: he never achieved the Archie Bunker/Alex P. Keaton effect ie attracting a wide audience of people on the right who both understood they were being made fun of while at the same time were fine with what the character was saying.

Colbert was and remains a person who is off-putting to Americans on the right while being comfortable to those on the left as that caricature of a person on the right.

I saw Stephen Colbert at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

But seriously I did meet him 10 years ago, got out of a cab right in front of me in NYC. Introduced me and my friend to his family, nice guy.

I remember how anti-Bush, anti-conservative 4chan was back during the days of The Colbert Report, when Colbert was very much "our guy" and people were freaking out because they thought he browsed /b/ after mentioning some meme.

During the Obama administration, though, there was a clear shift out of liberal politics and towards conservative politics on 4chan, mostly caused by a push from social justice warriors. Early on, 4chan was mocking birthers and the Tea Party, but towards the end of the Obama administration, 4chan shifted to hating on the left. Colbert was spared for a while simply because he got attacked by SJWs himself (the whole Cancel Colbert Suey Park thing), which made it seem like he was still "on our side." Even when he brought Anita Sarkeesian on and let her shill her "I'm the victim" bullshit, people still sided with Colbert, even going so far as to make up lies that Comedy Central cut the bits where Colbert made fun of Sarkeesian.

Truth be told, Colbert has always been a little libcuck. Only thing different is that now you're not also a little libcuck like Colbert. He didn't change, he didn't evolve, he didn't grow up, and that's the problem.

It was a lot more counter-culture back then to be more liberal.

It's flipped over time. It'll likely flip again over the next decade.

Just because someone is not a liberal, does not make them "anti-liberal". They just have different opinions/beliefs.

Too many of you people with black and white worldviews.
>>
>>84269538
The same joke falls flat now because your politics are different.

Colbert's humor has always relied heavily on the audience agreeing with his politics. Back in 2006, he performed for the White House Correspondents Dinner, doing his Colbert Report schtick, in the "right-wing blowhard" character. Crowd full of conservatives, and Colbert BOMBED because he's never been funny unless you agree with his politics.

The ONLY reason you found him funny before was because you USED TO agree with him. Now you don't, and now he's not funny.

True. That is also a huge factor playing into it. Colbert went from being counter-culture to being mainstream, and he did this by not changing.

Advice for the folks on the right. If you want to beat the left do t criticize people like Colbert. Don't attack him. Just prop him up and he'll do all the hard work for you.

Colbert is the epitome of the smug, self righteous liberal. Everything he says or does alienates those outside of his small audience. It's almost impossible not to hate this guy, and I say this being a life long Democrat.

>>84270149
His delivery was no different in the 2006 Correspondents Dinner and yet he bombed.

Here's the deal: you've got you alone saying "this is the history of 4chan" and you've got multiple anons (myself included) saying you've got it all wrong. We're not getting any headway here, it's just our word vs yours, so let's start laying down some outside sources.

Here's what I'll provide: the Encylopedia Dramatica article on the Tea Party. ED is a pretty good source for chronicling all that old Internet bullshit, and nowhere in the article does it credit 4chan with creating the Tea Party. Hell, 4chan goes unmentioned.

https://encyclopediadramatica.rs/Tea_party

In fact, the only direct connection between 4chan and the Tea Party that I can see is that the Tea Party once ripped off some slogans and 4chan raided them (something you ignored in your reply).

I await to see what sources have to show that 4chan had a direct hand in the creation of the Tea Party.

Here's another thing to consider: Tea Party websites began cropping up as early as 2002, a full year before the creation of 4chan, and the CSE existed as early as 1984.
