I was the king of my school as far as YGO went when I was like 7, so me and the neighbor kid who was also pretty good (we thought) went to some tournament at a youth center in a nearby town. We both got absolutely destroyed be everyone we faced. Most were older.

A few years later I got into it again and went to another tournament (at that same youth center actually), and figured that now that I was a bit older I'd be able to do better. My opponents were all like 20-35 and I got destroyed again.

A lot of parents did seem to be somewhat aware of the game rules and tournament etiquettes (I didn't even know you were supposed to use sleeves when I arrived at the tournament and quickly bought some before my first match). My mom gave me a huge lecture about hygiene after both tournaments because most guys there smelled so bad. Now my hygiene is impeccable. Thanks mom!

With fusion cards and summon cards, if you have them in your hand and play something like pot of greed and then send a fusion/summon monster to your graveyard straight from your hand, can you revive that monster to the field using monster reborn?
Cause the card says it allows you to special summon any monster in either person's graveyard

But this seems like an easy way to summon ludicrously powerful fusion cards which would otherwise take upwards of 10 turns

Fusion monsters can never be in your hand, they belong in the extra deck.
You can revive anything from your main deck that lands in the graveyard with reborn unless it says {This card can't be special summoned except...}.

Fusion(and other extra deck monsters) have to be successfully summoned first, but there's very few ways to get them in the grave without summoning anyway.

Most effective decks of any competitive game aren't gonna be luck of the draw. Shit, in Yugioh the whole point was to construct your deck in such a way that there were no shit hands.

Fags in the show just throw a bunch of cards together that look cool with no regard to any sort of strategy, with the exception of a few of the villains who got BTFO'ed by friendship or whatever.

konami has all but admitted that they'll never let old cards be good again. they've started reprinting old cards with new names/effects/art

holy shit I used to love yu-gi-oh and believed it was my future for sure. like no doubt I thought one day I would be a professional duelist. The truth was that I was a rich white kid who didn't understand strategy and just had my parents buy me the best cards in existence. I went to one tournament and got wrecked in the first round, like destroyed. I thought cause I had the god cards I'd auto win and be like yugi and have heart of the cards, but of course reality set in and the poor mexican kid I played actually had a good strategy and beat me with skills instead of money. No amount of heart of the cards, no amount of money could beat the fury of a poor kid who saved all of his money from working cheap labor to build a deck that was coherent and made sense. I was absolutely stunned. I didn't get it. After that I learned the power of brains over money, ingenuity over inheritance. After that I stopped playing YuGiOh and just finished out the series, eventually learning the stupidity of the plot, and realizing that the one competitive duel I was in was eons more complex than whatever was on the show.

Want to go back and watch, probably still Kino.
