ITT: Terrible attempts at making an actor look younger or older, for flashbacks/forwards, prequels and the like.

Pic related, Dexter in his early 20s, looking awfully like Dexter in his late 30s wearing a bird nest.

The earliest examples of "unquote" in print were also in transcripts of official government telegrams circa 1910 with the notable distinction that they were all trans-Atlantic telegrams.

It seems that two standards had evolved. "End quote" was being used in domestic telegrams and "unquote" was being used by the operators of the trans-Atlantic cables. Usage of both terms were approximately equal in rarity until the mid-1930's when there was a sudden up-tick in the volume of trans-Atlantic communication of an official nature due to the war. "Unquote" suddenly became much more common although "End quote" did not become less common than it had been. The combined usage of the two terms increased dramatically with nearly all of the new instances "unquote."

As a standard in telegrams, "end quote" definitely came first but it was completely supplanted by "unquote." When punctuation was spelled out for transmission, it was transmitted as written (in words rather than symbols) Based on the practice of charging by the word, "unquote" is one word cheaper to transmit. Both widespread exposure to cable operators during the war and the one-word cost economy may have influenced the switch. By 1954, a similar manual to business users as the 1907 instruction pamphlet advises the use of "unquote."

Both terms have lived on outside of their narrow functional purpose essentially interchangeable. "Unquote" is now far more common. English has been niggerized.

This part actually killed the show completely for me. I enjoyed it a bit but as soon as I saw this it was alla just a giant fucking joke. If someone brings up Dexter I get reminded of this shit and I'm disgusted by how fucking awful it is. I absolutely can't take any part of it seriously and I wish Dexter never had been made.

I was done with Dexter when he had somehow gotten two dudes pissed off enough to chase him into an abandoned waste site or some shit where he played decoy by lying on the ground prone. The two guys pursuing him hop out of their pick-up truck all pissed and angry and then loom over Dexter's fallen body as they consider why he fell out and what they were going to do to him to him as payback for whatever the fuck he did.

While they're bitching to themselves Dexter does an sit-up like the Undertaker and jabs two needles full of miscellaneous instant TV knock-out toxin into their necks. He crosses his arms in an X pattern and makes a goofy fucking face when he does it as if he's go proud of himself for pulling off such an epic maneuver. I'll never be able to tell you why I sat and finished that shit series.

I didn't watch a lot of TV until I moved out in 2009, and Dexter was the first of the "serious" shows I watched. I have this movie idea where earth us invaded by aliens or demons but the gimmick is that the only way to identify the Invaders is the human ability to identify other human beings. The uncanny valley would give away their position. Maybe a twist in the end where one of the main characters was actually an invader but the audience never figured out because the movie would be filled with monsters like this picture.

I don't know if it counts as the same but Vikings makes me laugh when they replace the child actors.

Bjorn going from a prepubescent kid to a fully grown man in his early twenties in the space of 3-5 years was silly.

It got even more ridiculous at the end of 4a when the rest of the kids grow up so I are goes from a child to a grown man in at most 8 years when he should be at the oldest 16. It sticks out more when all the adult actors look exactly the same. Ragnar and Lagertha should be around 50-60 then

Joseph Gordon Levitt plays a young Bruce Willis while Bruce Willis plays an old Joseph Gordon Levitt. They're hitmen in the near future who assassinate people sent back in time from the slightly-further-ahead in the future because law enforcement has made murder nearly impossible to get away with.

And, slight spoiler but they explain it in the early part of the movie, the "Loop" part of the title comes from the future-mafia sending your older self back in time to be suicided by your younger self, along with a severance package, when they let you go.

Imagine being Arnold in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Jamie Curtis, you fuckin' fine, all sexy with your tight body and horrific androgynous monster face. I would totally have sex with you, both my character and the real me." when all he really wants to do is fuck another 16 year old in his dressing room. Like seriously imagine having to be Arnold and not only sit in that chair while Jamie Lee Curtis flaunts her disgusting body in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing her stretchmarks and leathery skin, and just sit there, take after take, hour after hour, while she perfected that dance. Not only having to tolerate her monstrous fucking visage but her haughty attitude as everyone on set tells her she's STILL GOT IT and DAMN, JAMIE LEE CURTIS LOOKS LIKE THAT?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and watch her mannish fucking gremlin face contort into types of grimaces you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been fucking nothing but a healthy diet of blondes and supermodels and later alleged rape victims for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies in Austria. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her dimpled stomach as she sucks it in to writhe it suggestively at you, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to sit there and revel in her "statuesque (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she worked so hard for with personal trainers in the previous months. And then the director calls for another take, and you know you could kill every single person in this room before the studio security could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're fucking Arnold. You're not going to lose your future political career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.
