Nope, watching a grand scale show with its diverse locations and amazing cast of characters like Game of Thrones makes look Rome uh inadequate if I might say. I'm guessing I would have thought this show was amazing if I watched it during its initial airing.

I started watching this from the fallout of binge watching Vikings. The problem is that the Pullo-Vorenus partnership is not as good imho as Aethelstan-Ragnar. Also no one in Rome even comes close to the presence that Ragnar possesses.

It's antiquated. The modern acting style is several layers removed from what you'll find in it. Novels have changed a lot as well so the source material isn't fresh either. It's an old stale boring fartfest. I actually dare you to try to watch it.
