OFFSCREEN CRIMES OF DOPPLEGANGER COOPER

>Murdered Major Garland Briggs, beheaded him, raped his body, raped his head and burned his office down
>Raped Audrey Horne while she was in a coma after the bomb at the bank, first with different parts of a dog, secondly with Major Briggs' decapitated head (She had a son, Richard Horne, the guy from the bar who later runs the kid over with his truck)
>While in the hospital pissed on Pete's corpse and shit on the parts of Andrew Packard they could salvage after the bomb blast
>Jaywalking
>Raped Donna
>Raped Harry and then shoved 90 pounds of RICE up his ass along with two gallons of BLEACH(that's why Harry is sick and dying)
>Raped Little Nicky
>Raped Dick Tremayne
>Does not pay his taxes
>Executed and raped a FBI agent in Columbia after Albert gave Jeffries the name and then dismembered his body to make into a dancing manikin with dog parts and Major Briggs' head
>Humiliated Diane and then raped, beat and abused her after going to her house shortly after leaving the lodge, forced a dog to rape her as well before dismembering the dog and putting parts of it up her ass and leaving her traumatized
>Coerced poor truckers to read books on Tibet before beheading then raping them
>Never returns his library books
>Yodeled at then tortured, raped, and murdered Annie and then used her head along with Major Briggs' head as bloody sock puppets to reenact the opening scene of the Dark Knight Rises
>Litters constantly
>Mounted a dogs head on a pole after raping and killing it and chopped off all its legs to use as a crude message delivery system
>Instead of paying his speeding tickets he tracked down and raped the police officers

or subscription drives. anything that recoups cost. based on the 250+K average the show gets, compared to the 1 million of other primetime shows in its timeslot, it's not looking like it's going to drive a lot of growth despite the premiere numbers.
>>
>>84230078
Mate, even Game of Thrones has a hard time hitting those ratings and Game of Thronse is on HBO, not on Showtime who nobody watches. What matters is the streaming service, how many people have brought Showtime as a result of Twin Peaks (a record according to the owner), the prestige from having a show such as this. Now, I'm not saying that it will definitely get a new season, but it's semi-likely as long as Lynch is willing to do it and as long as the management gives him the freedom to enact his vision.
>>
>>84230234
streaming services, lad. according to those, Twin Peaks is doing pretty well and Showtime seemed pleased with the results.
>>
>>84230250

You're still not getting it.

The show got greenlit because there was an expectation that it will match the ratings the original had or even ballpark it. That's why people with money threw money at it.

If the ratings are not there, they're not going to give the show money and that's that.
>>
>>84230234

Who told you about these "expectations"? Do you have close connections to the Showtime's management or something? Because believing that an absolute bum of a network like Showtime can get Twin Peak's original ABC's numbers is insane. People threw money at it for the reasons i've explained. Having a show like Twin Peaks and David Lynch at the helm is extremely prestigious.

where are you getting this tho? if they wanted to make bank with Twin Peaks they should have had it air on HBO or whatever channle in America is big, I dunno. Showtime is much smaller in scale and conseidering the top shows there can barely get over a million live views (not counting streaming), it's obvious that was not the angle they wanted to take when taking on TP and letting him do whatever he wanted.
>>
>There are people on this board whomst thinketh that S4 is a possibility
How and why would this happen? We are already lucky enough as it is for this 'limited series' event and there's no way there will be a fourth season. Could you plebs stop wanting too much and be pleased with what you have?

>The show got greenlit because there was an expectation that it will match the ratings the original had or even ballpark it.

That is absolutely not fucking true. NO show does those numbers anymore. Twin Peaks came on at a time when there were like 50 channels and no internet and other means to watch things. Everybody just ate up primetime ABC, NBC, CBS etc. We're living in entirely different media market today.

I agree that the viewer numbers are less than expected, but if you think they expected fucking 30 million people to watch the pilot like the original series that was on broadcast television that you could watch with just an antenna, on their premium cable network, you're an idiot.

Windom Earle is inquestionably the best part of season two, simply because what enshrouds the Deleuzian representation of negation in “The Black Lodge” is by nature (W)indom (E)arle. We, the pure ample aspiration, the capital v-Viewer are held fantastically in a grip of pleasure as "solicitude", certainty as “knowingness” and “The Black Lodge” as ontological blockchain/godhead. TMFAP is absolute fact in opposition but the baroque villainy of WE's (and any Lovecraftian) the same sin to die “now” as on the path to Madness. The conditional “It” (DC) creates nothing in response, Earle's own humanity is reflected in his oeuvre of disguise-personalities. (performed) To WE (& the normative Cooper &Briggs) the Implacability of unsure sentiment is Earle’s selfenforcing principle, pleasure--simplicity. In Palmer, the reprised intelligences move towards psychosomatic transgression. WE's sickness is symptom & myth unlike the Palmer daughter his active agent is not important, but “normal” and yet pronouncedly considerable as such, bidding. “We a the, of not can he.” The subject of Earle is in an undiluted terrace viewed viewers become wrote wonders, noting nothing Indian anyhow in the Black Lodge (negation).

Then, there’s Earle, the something coupling with Lodge entities, (call it “force”, of what? of course: illusion. – by since And because of supremacy In ALL perceptions, (rare & cloistered the issue may be) what we then Now view as reality, IS,) [in WE's] subjection a full picture. In an open letter to Kenneth Welsh “Windom Earle” one asks to which if not to want introduction (Mark Frost) gigantic of up wrote run life, (MF) introduction, revelation, dreams, & value system, (MF,MF,DL,MF) ie. AS Windom Earle has in the Black Lodge. (the rudimentary transition in S2 of Windom A into form Windom B) Perhaps to “comfyfags“ will greet these upon death, a paradoxical death for those who existence infects.

"Asked about novelist Mark Frost, who took his own life in 2017, but who has a new book out, “Twin Peaks The secret histories,” put together from manuscript chapters and files found in his computer, Bloom says, “You know, I don’t want to be offensive. But ‘Secret Histories of Twin Peaks’ [regarded by many as Wallace’s masterpiece] is just awful. It seems ridiculous to have to say it. He can’t think, he can’t write. There’s no discernible talent.”

It’s all a clear indication, Bloom notes, of the decline of literary standards. He was upset in 2006 when the National Book Award gave a special award to David Foster Wallace. “But Wallace is Cervantes compared with Mark Frost. We have no standards left. [Frost] seems to have been a very sincere and troubled person, but that doesn’t mean I have to endure reading him. I even resented the use of the term from Shakespeare, when Hamlet calls the king’s jester Yorick, ‘a fellow of secret histories.’

Get it through your thick head, live ratings are for the most part. What Twin Peaks brings in other departments is what interests Showtime. One of these things for example, is the fact that the revival broke Showtime's signups for it's streaming services which is huge. This is what's most important for Showtime.

If Twin Peaks can continue to bring attentino to Showtime, it will get renewed as long as Lynch himself wants to continue and he expressed his interest in doing so. The problem here is if they will continue to give him the freedom he wants, or would they want to make some adjustments.

>>84230842
Different character, unfortunately [sic?] same actor.

In fact, this is how it happened:

Around the time after Cooper returned to Philadelphia and subsequently disappeared (presumably to Buenos Aires), Denise stopped working undercover in the DEA
and focused wholly on work at the FBI. Denise was soon recognized by her(?) contemporaries and by around 2014 became the FBI Chief of Staff, with her(?) mission
being to hire and promote agents better than Cooper who would help find him and bring him home.

Mulder, who first saw action in 1989 and discovered the "X-files" between 1989 and 1990, had never met Denise, nor even heard of her(?) until that time around 2014
when Denise was promoted to Chief of Staff, effectively making her(?) his "boss." How he reacted, however, is unknown.

I posted above that Showtime reports good ratings from streaming services across multiple platforms - an average of 2 million per episode, at least for eps1-4 (the premiere had 3 million). That number will grow as people tune in to binge, or join late.

We are at a point where live ratings are no longer indicative of a show's success.
>>
>>84232006
I believe the Lodge Spirits used Chet's corporeality to create doppelCoop, which BOB did again to make Dougie, to some random asshole.
>>
>>84231869
Start with the original series, then FWWM, then Missing Pieces, then the new series. If you'd done this, you'd see that BOB killed Josie. The Arm appeared to Cooper and danced after this because of reasons.
>>
>>84231884
I'd be fine with them finishing it up in season 3.

Don't know what the ratings are like, but if they've dropping I'm not surprised - the first three episodes of s3 probably shook out a look of the casual viewers who were there for the cosy cherry-pie-and-coffee stuff.

We did get the cosiest s3 episode yet with part 7, but it's probably too late for the cosy crowd now.

>>
>>84232006
What it means is that the midget showed up immediately after, was hit by a spotlight, and did a dance. You're deriving certain meaning from this when the significance of these things is in fact not certain.
>>
>>84232024
BOB couldn't claim Laura because of the ring, so made Leland kill her anyway. The garmonbozia was taken from Leland, which BOB and MIKE shared.

BOB left Leland before he died so he was no longer with him. And because he 'saw Laura', it means he was free.
>>
>Cooper having his spirit broken by the Black Lodge didn't allow his dark impulses to take over and BOB to enter his soul
>Cooper didn't become the next Leland, representing the endless cycle of abuse
Anyone else disappointed by this? It's not a retcon or anything, but I think the original finale is weaker now that it's confirmed that Dopple Coop wasn't just a spiritual concept and exists completely separate from our Cooper.
>>
>>84232121
lol
I realize my personal theory is a bit of a stretch, but I'm trying to get my head around the purpose of the ring.
One thing I haven't been seeing people talk about is that Evil Cooper probably went to the hospital mainly to retrieve the ring, which Annie had on in the hospital and was removed from her finger by a nurse.
Regardless of whether he also killed/raped Audrey and/or Annie, the ring would have been his main motivation.
Lodge spirits are also evidently capable of some degree of transformation. Who is BOB's doppelganger? Where the fuck did Dougie come from? I doubt you or anybody else has the full logic of the Lodge figured out, Lynch/Frost included.

You don't need theorizing to know the purpose of the ring, it's explicitly stated in that Frost book as far as I know. The Arm talks about it forever in FWWM / Missing Pieces. Shit protects you from lodge faggots and/or is a homing beacon to suck you into it when you die and ensure your chance at ascension.

Nixon had one, Lewis and Clark, some shit like that. Haven't read that turd.
>>
>>84232256

The lodge makes even less sense once we factor in that other place Coop visited with the eyeless lady.
>>
>>84232278
Time in the Lodge progresses differently than in our world.

I interpret it as Leland, when he died, saw what we'd all see at Judgment Day. For him, it was a matter of moments that he could see Laura again and "step into the light", yet for us, we're still waiting and he too was waiting (it depends on your belief, if there is a purgatory or if we "sleep" when we die, and Lynch/Frost believe it to be the former).
>>
>Desmond is an expy of Cooper

>>
>>84232256
He needed the ring as part of his plan to avoid being pulled back into the lodge when the stars align. Created that Doug homunculus and put the ring on him, had the Las Vegas creepy dude from Mullholland Drive hire Jade to make sure she bangs him in the house on Sycamore St. The ring made sure that Dougie Fresh got sucked back, put a fat target on him. Left arm goes numb when you're about to get LODGED—just like T. Banks, Leland, Dougie Fresh, how many others?
>>
>>84232238
It was confirmed back then too. You see the doppelganger chasing Cooper right before he breaks into the real world and the log lady's closing flat out says there are two Coopers now. Same with Annie's revelation to Laura in FWWM.
>>
>>84232364

I don't count the Dopple Coop in the Lodge, because the Lodge is a spiritual place, and I don't remember there being any Log Lady closing in the version I watched. That was an extradimensional vehicle that travels the aether. Doppel–Arm tried to send Cooper to non-existence, the billionaire had that fat shit catch him in NY in order to scuttle him down the pipes (or to make sure he hits the extradimensional TARDIS shit).

Two teams opposing one another.
• Doppelganger–Arm, Doppelganger–Cooper, BOB, "Phillip Jeffries", (Secret Billionaire?), My Mother
• MIKE, The Arm, The Giant, (Secret Billionaire?), All-Black Lodge Spirit With the Hat / Voice-on-the-Phone (to BOB–Cooper), Naido, American Girl, Briggs

Team 2 is aims to stop BOB and get him back, perhaps also retrieving the stolen corn. Team 1 aims to fuck everyone's shit, eager for fun—they wear a smile, everybody run.

>>
>>84232488
The log lady intros were exclusive to the blu ray set. I think they might have been shown when the show first aired too.

>I don't count the Dopple Coop in the Lodge
I don't get your reasoning here. Choosing to ignore the explanation the creator explicitly gives you doesn't make it any less canon.
>>
>>84232121
>Who made The Arm's extra-midget doppelganger?
MIKE cut off his arm (with the "Fire Walk With Me" tattoo) when he "saw the face of God", implying MIKE is now good and the bad, eternally corrupted/corruptible part of him (The Arm) became its own entity within the Black Lodge (or rather he presides over the Red Room, "mine is red, hers is black").

The Arm is an extension of MIKE and still exercises a measure of control over him. In FWWM, it seems apparent that the Arm causes MIKE to still associate with BOB and even demand garmonbozia from him.

The evolution probably still needs to be explained.

The part that I don't completely get is that the Arm seems to largely be good (while doppel-Arm is definitely bad), but wasn't the Arm the bad part of MIKE?

Of course the Arm could just be doing stuff for shits and giggles. In his midget form that definitely seemed the case, but the evolved tree-Arm seems much more definitely to be on good-Coop's side.
>>
>>84232584

Well considering time is fucked in the Lodge MIKE separating from his arm happened "at some point" which could be even in the future and the ARM existing there could, again due to a weird flow of time, be in the past, present or future.

Basically, because MIKE separated from his ARM at some point, the arm simply existed in the lodge at all points.

Or another way of looking at it is that once you enter the lodge you "were always there".
>>
Lynch is injecting so many concepts from Dune and I'm not just imagining things in my head.

Dougie is Paul Atredis before he drinks the water of life to become Muad'dib/Cooper. On his initial journey out of the lodge the first thing he sees is the wide open oceans of Caladan. His experience in the black lodge is the journey that Paul goes on (when he sees all of time and space) when he drinks the water of life.

Watch and you will see.

The Arm is LITERALLY a demon. Considering he was created from the ash of a fallen angel, evil is just about his nature.

You see throughout the series, he tricks Cooper by giving him clues, making him seem useful, however he has a plan and a goal in mind - gaining more garmonbozia for himself.

Similar to what >>84232722 says, the Arm is working against BOB at the moment because he's not sharing his garmonbozia and he might need BOB in order to carry out his master plan, and can't have BOB outside the Lodge much longer.

Knowing this, he even uses MIKE in an attempt to return BOB to the Lodge because he knows Cooper still trusts MIKE.

If they wanted to end this arc properly, they'd have Cooper realize The Arm was never to be trusted.

>>84232580
Obviously, it turned out that there really are two Coopers. That's why I said it wasn't a retcon - Lynch didn't change or contradict anything, he just disambiguated it.

However, everything we saw suggested that the Lodge spirits couldn't exist in the real world without a host, like MIKE/Gerard and the Giant/Butler, so it was natural to assume that Dopple Coop was the same. So, pre-season 3, I wouldn't consider the presence of Dopple Coop in the Lodge to be hard evidence that two flesh-and-blood Dale Coopers existed.

what the fuck was up with this picture? why was coop shopped onto a picture of a mansion instead of just taking a picture of him at a mansion? The cheapest, low rent porn can afford to rent a mansion for an afternoon. also who the fuck would have taken this picture? this isnt a surveillance picture, it looks like somebody is walking backwards with him like theyre filming a movie, while also having to be careful to not fall in the pool. nothing about it makes sense. goddamnit. also that picture of coop that tammy was looking at was just a screenshot from the fucking show!

The spirits of the black lodge made a doppelganger called Douggie Jones with the sole purpose of saving Coop's face when confronted with Booper's crimes by the FBI?

despite opening to meager ratings, the Twin Peaks revival has just set a new streaming debut record for network Showtime. The new season of the show slithered onto the channel last week, and has since become a hot topic for film buffs and casual viewers alike.

>Given the new Twin Peaks‘ topical popularity, many critics and fans were befuddled when, earlier this week, news broke that the rebooted series had garnered meager ratings. Though the revival gained Showtime its largest number of single-day streaming sign-ups in history, Twin Peaks: The Return ultimately only brought in some 506,000 viewers with its two premiere episodes. The cult favorite thus earned a surprisingly low 0.2 Neilsen rating within its demographic. However, though these numbers signaled bleak beginnings for the reboot, it looks like modern technology is going to save this golden oldie.

>According to THR, new numbers from non-linear TV and DVR recordings paint a different picture of the Twin Peaks premiere. As of this morning, some 1.7 million viewers have tuned in to the two-part series debut, with over half of those numbers originating in alternate platforms. Simply put, around 1 million Twin Peaks viewers saw the show by means other than tuning into Showtime last Sunday at 9 p.m. Many viewers likely accessed the show through Showtime’s app or Showtime Anytime subscriber service. According to the company, Twin Peaks actually has the most streaming viewers ever for an original debut on the network, as well as the highest percentage of streaming viewership of any Showtime original.

we dont know what the numbers are like since the premiere but based off that the show is doing fine. it also has a very low budget obviously so i think theyll be fine

The extras change completely in between shots. Not sure whether it's meant to be time skips or not.

Also at the end there are two pieces of music playing - "Sleep Walk" is still playing, and there's something else playing under it.

It's just a movie mistake.

When they shoot movies, certain shots are filmed on certain scheduled days and each day they have a scheduled cast of extras and even the same ones come in wearing something different and doing something different from the previous days, so naturally in-between shots, there would be discrepancies related to the extras.

It's completely normal.

>Shelly looks around like "wtf" when it happens.
Everyone was doing that because of the guy who came in and asked about Billy and then immediately leaving, she wasn't even double-taking the crowd.

About the hair, she's a main actor, so the makeup/costume department made sure her hair was in-character and consistent. Often in mundane/modern film and television, extras just come in with whatever they choose to wear.

>>84233719
FWWM was a great movie but fucked with the lore and arguably made it worse. The ring, the garmonbozia, making the story "more" than Twin Peaks. All mistakes, in my opinion.

People meme about Frost, but he's much better with the lore than Lynch is. Most of the stuff in Secret History built off of Lynch's additions in FWWM and the finale. Lynch is 100% the aesthetic/style/characterization of Twin Peaks, though.

DESU that scene could be timeline fuckery, inter-world intercourse, lazy editing, a mistake, or just a deliberate error to make the show spookier.
