I saw a review that pointed out something about this scene.

They are able to get away with almost anything because these are robots. In no other movie could our hero end the film by executing a defeated character asking for mercy. In a film about humans he would have to do one last betrayal to be killed.

Why are you repeatedly trying to use the past actions of the villain to justify the actions of the hero?

Spock could have straight up destroyed the entire world and wiped out all the Autobots, that still doesn't make Optimus field-executing the nigga ISIS-style after he had surrendered heroic.

There's a reason why most action films where the hero has clearly beaten the villain the writers resort to something like the villain reaching for a weapon or trying to take them both out so that the hero can kill him with justification.

I wasn't bothered in the least by what Optimus (amused, frankly), but I recognize that executing helpless villains is not hero behavior.
