Maybe you guys can help me.

I'm going insane trying to figure this out and Google keeps bringing up fucking news reports.
I'm looking for an episode of a show I watched as a kid, it was just on TV and I watched through it.

Okay so, wife goes into a coma, doctor tries some new machine that allows people to mentally go into the coma dream of others to try and wake them up, in the coma dream though the wife has a doppelganger.
The doppelganger convinces the guy that his wife has been following them and he should kill her (him thinking the doppelganger is the real wife) and of course he ends up killing her by strangulation, I can't remember much after that.

I think it was The Twilight Zone but it was in color.
This has been bothering me off and on for years.
