There's a really interesting story in the sequel films too with the town fuckup in the first that's pretty much never shown just for the sake of remaking the first film as many times as they can, it's a real pain in the ass.

How difficult could that be for you to write? They're the most generic monster imaginable, you wouldn't even need to change anything, just name it something other than "Critters The Sequel"
