Watching City Of God in film class
>class is visibly angry
>'I can't read and watch at the same time'
>'Why wouldn't you make a film in English if you wan't it to sell well
>Class demands a dub
>teacher can't find one
>we end up watching batman vs superman
Anyone else got bad film class stories.
>>
>>84137561
No anon, i don't have film classes, i want to acquire useful skills.
>>
>>84137561
Yeah, in my film class the first day the teacher asked what our favorite film was, and this asian kid I saw playing yu gi oh earlier and had a cap with dragon wings on it said Food Fight is his favorite movie and the teacher is like oh what's that and he said "o-o-oh my God, heh heh heh heh heh, i-i-its the worst movie I mean oh my God, it is just so hilarious and just, wow, the animation is like puke and, heh heh heh, it's so bad" and the teacher was visibly cringing . Next class we watched Chinatown and that kid caught up with me and asked what I thought and I said it's Chinatown man, it's a classic (implying I've already seen it), and the kid goes "yeah, it was boring. And the ending is just like, uuuh, what? Heh he heh, right?' and I just signed
>>
>>84137561
I didn't go to films, I went to film school.
>>
Dubbing is the way of subhumans, like French, Germans, Spaniards and Brazillians itself.

The only time dubbing is acceptable is in animated films and series for children (no, Anon, it is not acceptable to watch the Simpsons in any other language than English) and in Spaghetti Westerns
>>
>>84137561
>>class is visibly angry
I thought it was going to be because the portrayal of nogs in this movie.
>'Why wouldn't you make a film in English if you wan't it to sell well
This is somehow worse.
>>
>>84137561
How many niggers are in your class?
>>
>>84137653
You must be really retarded if you think that French, Germans, Spaniards and Brazillians are subhumans for dubbing but Italians aren't.
>>
>>84137688
Wow, I'm sorry for having forgotten a country in the big list of countries that dub!

Anyway, Italians are allowed to dub Spaghetti Westerns INTO ENGLISH (plus In The Name of The Rose) and dub their own films into Italian (I think they used to record the sound only after filming). But they aren't allowed to dub foreign films into their own language, specially live-action

How much did you pay to watch movies with a group of people?
>>
>>84137714
Yeah their whole industry was shooting too many films to record sound live so they dubbed their own movies. They also made the actor say stuff where the lip movement could be dubbed to both english and italian to have a larger audience.

I was luckier than some, we saw Goodfellas in class. Our teacher was not too fan of the discreet blowjob scene in prison.

A history teacher showed us Dersu Uzala (1975/kurozawa)... A little bit too kino for a class with 16 years old class.
>>
Why a Snyder cringefest instead of a Nolan masterpiece? Something does not add up with this thread.

Yes. I enjoy reading the dialogue and sometimes weighing less than stellar writing elevated by a strong performance, or vice versa. If I have friends or family over I'll ask what they prefer, but by myself? Always subtitled. It adds an extra layer of appreciation to the construction of a good movie imo.

He can do whatever he wants. Uni/college is not a place to discuss shit. Just duckspeak whatever commie crap the professor wants to hear and reap A's.

>>84142352
If you are literally paying to learn and the professor seemingly has an interest in education then I think he would be interested in discussing his ideas further or maybe having them challenged in a respectable way. I'm really worried about this when I start uni this fall. I graduated in '12 but I went right in to work after HS so im only just now going to a 4 year college for digital media communications. I'm looking at my required courses and seeing a lot of bullshit humanities and social theory classes. There is even one class called just "Discourse" which has a randomly selected theme each semester of either local gay history, local female history, or local black history....

I feel like this is only a thing in the Midwest. Why do I feel like they don't require this shit in schools in California or Jew York? Call me a conspiricist but I think they are trying to turn these red states blue by sending lib professors here to fuck with impressionable kids
>>
>>84142394
That's the thing, if your words and arguments aren't completely in line with a left wing ideology, then you're most likely fucked. The majority of the class and the professor will turn on you in a second. There's no such thing as having a constructive argument in shitty art courses. You either agree with the professor or you keep your mouth shut.
>>
>>84144786
Discourse classes are generally great to teach you how to be a public speaker and to debate and fight for your ideas, which is a transversal skill needed in almost everything.
The problem is that odds are the teacher will take advantage of the fact that the topics are not really relevant to push their agenda which is lame.

Right. I took some pretty good speech classes at CC. My speech professor was the head of her department and I had her for 3 semesters. But she was totally unbiased and a great educator all around. No shit she really cured my fear of public speaking.

But I'm not sure I'm going to be able to handle a 4ft 5 balding Jew man with thick rimmed glasses and a nose ring telling me cops are race soldiers for the white apostate every class while I spend $20,000 a semester

Just gotta knock the bullshit classes out of the way first I guess. I don't think people have to deal with this stuff when they take classes for their major (unless it's queer studies or something)

I remember watching The Da Vinci Code in a humanities class (and it was back in 2012, so the SJW thing was starting to gain steam), and I had to write a review of it. I only paid partial attention because A) humanities (I was in school for geology) and B) Dan Brown. If anyone's interested, I might post the review.

European detected. I wish we had do-nothing classes like that in high school but unfortunately in America as a teenager you're forced to only take STEM+History+Literature+Medicine classes for the whole shibang. That's probably why our universities are so much better.

Seriously? American universities all have mandatory courses that have nothing to do with your major, so even the scientists can't escape SJW indoctrination. I studied finance and accounting, and the only 'unrelated' subject I ever studied was a 12-hour course on political science.

I'm in film school too. And the people posting shit like "hurr you don't learn any real skills, enjoying paying thousands of dollars to watch movies" are so ignorant of what film school is really about.
It's all about the connections.
In my class, there's a guy whose father is already a director (not a big name one, probably more on the fame level of Elliot Rodger's dad, that kind of director), and he wants to become a director too.
We're all friends in the class, and i'm sure these connections will come in handy in the future.
I would never make these connections by "going to films" like Autism-tino did.

Literally everyone here (who's not an underaged faggot) knows that filmschool is only worthwhile for making connections.
You'd know that if you'd been here for more than a week. That doesn't change that you're paying tens of thousands to meet people while being taught shit you can find online for free

Also, how do you think Tarantino made his connections in the first place you dumb fuck? You think they just magically appeared out of thin air and gave him some money to make a film?
You're everything wrong with filmschool kids. You know jackshit about the industry you want to work in and look down on people who don't make the same decisions as you. Good luck working as a hack tv director for hire

Oh yeah, too bad the spics butchered the whole series adding their shit enchilada crap into the dialogues, great jokes were never to be seen in the mexcrement dub.
Thank god the mexican dubs are becoming less used in favour of dubs made in Colombia or Chile that use actual neutral spanish

Not that anon, but in my uni, in our last year one of our lecturers only had set material for the first half of the course. The second half, he had guides and ideas, but decided what to teach based on what we were interested in

This was for an epistemology module in philosophy. It was a really fucking hard module too.

Lecturers can basically do whatever the fuck they want with regards to teaching
