How does Lynch think that we are supposed hold the suspension of disbelief in Dougie's case? His wife has been acting waaay too naive for god knows how many episodes. The first thing any reasonable human being would do is call a doctor because the guy is obviously damaged and something is wrong. Only some episodes later she (and actually everyone else around him) think of reaching out to an authority. It's impossible to stay involved in the whole Dougie subplot tbqh.
