What makes a great vampire?

no one gives a shit about vampires

Vampire hunters do.
Weakness and motivation like you said.
>Weakness
Sun
>Motivation
Blend in with the society
Blade 1 had all of these. Vampires are not bad people per say. Their only motive is to survive to blend in with shadows and appear as human. They are parasites to mankind.

A good nemesis...

The inner struggle of existence vs am I a bad person...
one that wants to be a good boy but his blood sucking nature inevitably gets him in the end proving the hunters right
something like drive
like a savage beast
What was the question?
1. Sense of family. A vampire must treasure his vampire family above all other wants and desires.
2. Quest for immortality. A vampire must seek not to lose his gifts due to exploitation of his weaknesses.
3. Burning down the night. A vampire operates in darkness and must seek maximum destruction within the bounds of the previous laws.
4. Human husbandry. Vampires must serve as custodians of the environment and strive to manage population levels as well as encouraging breeding of the most docile stock.
5. Shooting bullets at the moon. The moon is a vampire's sun, a symbol in the cosmos which looms large over a vampire's night-to-night life, but a vampire must never be cowed by it and must consider itself more powerful than any other force of nature.
6. Ghoul management. Ideally a vampire should interact in human society through a superclass of human beholden to the vampire and tied completely to its interests; it is never beneficial for a vampire to interact directly with humans outside of feeding.
7. Rolling style. Vampires should light it up with their hands up.
I thought the vampires, or chiroptera, from Blood+ were well done. They're more like a hive of ancient monsters than anything else, getting rid of most of their supernatural attributes. Would be cool to see something similar in a film
>weakness
The blood of another "queen vampire" which causes their blood to crystallize
>powers
They have super regenerative abilities (which is a little over the top) and they're more inhuman than typical vampires, which naturally implies super-human strength and speed (which could also be tuned down).
>motivation
Reproduction and to become the dominant species on Earth. Pretty simple but it's really the sisterly conflict between the two "queen" vampires that make it interesting and gives it a more relatable emotional core
otherwise minimalism is also pretty good
>weakness
none other than a natural aversion to sunlight and an unquenchable thirst for blood. It's more like a curse which causes the main antagonist to be more internally conflicted and makes them more of a tragic villain
>powers
Not much. It puts them on a more equal ground with the protagonist and makes it more of a game of cat an mouse or a battle of the wits
>motivation
What >>84019197 and >>84019527 said. The character interactions between a skilled hunter motivated by previous tragedy and an internally
conflicted lost soul driven by their nature is much more interesting than characters trying to defeat an unstoppable monster with a grab-bag of superpowers and arbitrary nonsensical weaknesses
>>84018105
a red stone, a mask, and UV rays
>>84018105
weaknesses and mode of living
powers are usually dumb outside of immortality, motivation should only be used for believable background unless it is theme related
>>84018105
I'm gonna have to go with the ability to stop time
>>84018105
Reluctance.
