Hated this movie and thought it was stupid when it first came out.

Later on I came to really love it. It's one of the few movies with Johnny Depp that I actually like. Probably because it's one of the few movies where hes actually acting instead of doing an extended impression of someone else.

i should have explained it better. satan is according to dante's inferno encapsulated in the center of the 9th circle of hell. in order for him to be freed, he needs to be born to the world manifest himself in the form of the antichrist. depp's character created the vessel that lucifer will use for the antichrist by getting fucked by the succubus. in order for him to reap the reward for freeing satan from hell, depp's character goes through the 9th gate. jokes on him though because he has to replace satan in the 9th circle.
