He's working with the director of KONG:Skull Island to make the MGS film, but Kojima himself does not need to make films. He's more passionate about video games and bringing a cinematic element to them, as talented as he is and passionate for films, maybe a full transition into crafting movies wouldn't translate well. He's king of his medium and the argument should not be about "instead", but maybe "also make".
