IMO the first episode is shit. The rest of the series is good until season 4. I started watching season 4 and it was bad. So I stopped watching. Good from seasons 1-3 though.

The books are great. Only I don't fucking remember them really. I remember them being cool at least. The show does nothing to jog my memory at all. It is merely a good time filler and there's some hot chicks.

Only the stuff where they need to act is like that. Everyone else surrounding them in the show is pretty great. Oh, and there's even a school dance episode. That should clue you in. Watch while drunk.
