Putin comes across as a smart guy who knows his political history and economics.

He makes out the US to be a big bully.

He makes a good point that the US intends to spend 600billion on defense, which is more than all other countries on earth combined, and for what purpose? Surely the tax payers would rather some of that to go to health, education, pensions, reducing poverty and so on? Inequality is so bad in the US, while Putin has significantly improved quality of life for many Russians, something like lifting 1/3 of the population out of poverty.

If Clinton had won she would have gone to war with Russia. It would have started with her "no fly zone" over Syria, and American troop involvement in the area. From there it would have escalated, and considering that both nations are a nuclear super power, I do not believe it would have ended well.

Before the series, I thought he would come off as a hard-line centrist if not center-left economically, but he comes off basically as hard-line center-right. He would fit easily into moderate wings of the Republican party.

What is more interesting are the geopolitics talks.

How he feels threatened by the United States and NATO encroaching on Russia's borders. This one has always been theorized by the left, but it was interesting to hear it come from Putin's mouth.

More interesting was his claims of the underhanded shit happening with the War on Terror and Chechnya with the US actually supporting Terrorists. Again, theorized by lefties for a long time, actually confirmed by Putin.

It's also pretty obvious Putin is a master troll throughout it. Look at how he acts when called out on the Hacking and shit by Oliver Stone denying it, while his body language and face show that "oh of course we did it but I'm not going to admit it".

Putin often does stuff like this because he knows it stirs shit in the US. Like him offering amnesty to Comey. Never will happen, but it's done to just throw fuel on the fire in the US.
