Speaking from experience, autistic people love categorization and finer details. Doug's rants and nitpicks scratch that itch for them, as well as gives them a sense of superiority over people that might enjoy the movies Doug reviews.
It makes them feel like real movie analysts without any effort or personal thought, hence why they're so devoted to Doug. That's how I rationalize it, at least.
