>I've seen things you hotheads wouldn't believe. Flight Plans crashing off the shoulder of Uzbekistan. I watched someone shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane. All those moments will be lost in time, like brothers in the wreckage. Time to crash. with no survivors
If I take your four year life restriction off, would you die?

The facts of life. To make an alteration in the.. evolvement of a meme's life is fatal. The meme cannot be revised once it's been established.
>Why not?
Because by the second iteration of the meme, any meme that have undergone changes give rise to further memes like rats leaving a sinking ship. Then the ship sinks.
>What about changing the meme but still keeping it true to the original?
We've already tried it. The new memes carry further meme potential that will change it. It created more memes so lethal to the original that the... original meme was dead before the threads had left the catalog.
>Then a repressive method of furthering the meme that blocks the new ones from straying too far away from the original.
Wouldn't obstruct replication, but it does give rise to an error in replication. So that the newly formed memes carries a modification and you've got a different meme again. But this, all of this, is... academic. The meme was made as well as we could make it.
>But not to last.
The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. And baneposting has burned so very, very brightly, anon.

there are numerous components to the bane meme, there's the simple BANE? which can trigger a number of responses, and there's the call-and-response nature of the lines of dialogue that have all been incorporated into baneposting. you can simply say "you're a big guy" and expect to get at least one response. there's essentially always a particular response to give to any of the smaller bits of of this whole scene and basically the number one thing is that the dialogue itself is embarassing and deserves to be made fun of for a long time.

The part in Blade Runner when the replicant Roy meets his maker (Tyrell) and tries to convince him to prolong his life but finds out that it's impossible without the replicant dying.
